Hitler's belief system was like a Frankstein monster built of bits and pieces of just about every idea and ideology he ever came in contact with, Judeo-Christian, Darwinist, pagan, gnostic, Eastern, nihilistic or otherwise. It didn't even have to make sense. Even if it contradicted itself at times, at least it had something for everyone, which helped him win the support he did. If he wanted to get religious people to support his plans, he would give religious-sounding reasons for them. Unfortunately, it usually worked. :worried:

As most of you probably know, Hitler did indeed tell some people he was Catholic. But he also told people he opposed war. And that it was best to tell a big lie if you are going to lie. And still today in the case of a large number of Austrians, being baptized and confirmed and calling yourself Catholic doesn't necessarily mean anything in terms of belief and morality. After doing much research of my own, I would say that the kind of neo-gnosticism pioneered by Helena Blavatsky was the main driving force behind Hitler. He wanted to usher in the same new era of existence which all "New Age" religions speak of.

Agree. He politically wanted to have his cake and eat it too. Not a bad policy really, (politically speaking), and one used by our own governments in much the same way today.

To put it in context:

It's analogous to creationists trying to back up their bullshit ideaology with science, (the exact opposite), and then also turning around and believeing ghost sightings and mystic shit twisting it to serve as proof of what they already believe.

I think in Hitlers own mind though he thought he had it all figured out. And to continue with the creationist analogy, just think of Kent Hovind, and how his little ideas seem to weave some sort of logical path in his own mind.

Well that's kind of what reading Mein Kampf is like. The line of reasoning is bullshit - but I believe he believes it. And you can see him arrive at faulty conclusions along the way, thinking he has made perfectly logical deductions. They start to build on each other, and everything starts to go pear-shaped pretty damn quick.
