I saw a clip of that Matt Lauer interview of Tom Cruise a couple months ago in which Cruise scolded Laurer for his ignorance of the evils of psichology, and it got me curious about what scientologly was all about.
I looked it up, but wasn't able to find much info. I was wondering what their problem with psychology is. And I was also wondering if they believed in god. If not, how can they call it a religion. If anyone has any feedback, please post back. Thanks! |

It is a dangerous cult full of people that have been mislead and abused. It's core tenets read like bad sci-fi, which makes sense because it was written by a crappy sci-fi writer. The inventer of the religion admitted that he invented it for the singular purpose of becoming rich, but the current mindless followers of the religion don't care, because they want the magical powers that scientology promises.
Basically the whole scam tells us that an evil space dictator rounded up people by accusing them of income tax evasion, injected them with drugs and sent them to earth, and then blew them up. Their souls wafted up and now cling to us, and are the cause of all our problems. So, you hold onto two tin cans and have soembody "audit" you, and the souls (called Thetans) disappear. Once they disappear you are able to fly, have perfect memory, etc. It's all bullshit, all of it. There is not a single redeeming feature of the entire cult. There is no enlightenment to be gleaned in any sense. It's practitioners are a mix of the deluded, the insane, or cynical sue-happy control freaks. |

Just what you'd expect when a science fiction writer cooks up a new religion. :rolling:

The core group is a cult with strange beliefs, but those are pretty irrelevant. People join the cult because Scientologists tell them that they have a technique that will allow them to solve their social and psychological problems and be successful. They claim to have a solution for a lot of social and personal problems, from drug use to underperforming schools.
They don't like psychologists because psychology is their competition. |

Wow, I didn't think scientology was that retarded. That's as bad as every other religion. Maybe worse even, lol.

"Hubbard claimed to have discovered certain “natural laws? of the spiritual universe"
Now how did 'ol Ronny manage to do that! ![]() And just look at the terminology; "Thetans" “Operating Thetan III? "E meter" All that's missing is Volton - Lord of the Universe. :rolling: |

Scientology uses VERY effective mind-control techniques. An extraordinary percentage of people who have spent some time under its influence then left (their bank account lighter by a few thousand pounds), NEVER recover their "sanity". They think of themselves as "failures" for not being able to "make the grade". When the subject of scientology comes up in conversation they all tend to adopt the same pose, make similar gestures with their hands, have an odd "blank" expression on their face and they feel "compelled" to praise Hubbard.
