It was a meeting of opposites: 30 conservative black Pentecostals from Hope Christian Church in Beltsville dining with 30 activists from Soulforce, a pro-gay religious group.
While there was no rancor or overt anger, there also was no meeting of minds. After nearly 90 minutes of debate Saturday night, no one on either side of the question of what the Bible teaches about homosexuality would admit to changing their minds. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...of-one-accord/ this article is a bit old , but it raises a good point. Are groups like Soulforce http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soulforce_(organization) really accomplishing any thing at all. Is there any reason top belive that conservative Christianity will change it's miond about homosexuality? |

I'm shocked. Conservative black Pentecostals failing to embrace gays.
Given the Bible is 100% anti-gay and 100% blind to the evils of slavery, I would have thought that both groups would have converted to .... well....anything else. |

Out of these two soulforce has to get my vote because they are pro diversity of race and sexuality. The pentecostals are pro diversity of race and not the other.

Whenever the bible talks about slavery (notwithstanding slavery of israelites to egyptians or humans to sin), it does not do so negatively |

As much as I find idiotic the "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" argument... The point behind it is: if homosexuality was part of God's plan, then it would say so somewhere in the Bible.
Homosexuality simply does not fit in a biblical worldview. |
