Hahh, Betty really is a typical fundie...

LOL. She dropped a therapist who merely told her what has been supported by scientific evidence, and the American Physcological Association?

I'd love to lock her away for child abuse. But I guess what she done to her son doesn't qualify (in my books it does, though.)

I got that impression myself. Either way, exposes one particular person in that thread as godawful and not someone i would care to ever meet.

You say most of the people on here are all right? What sort of responses did this post receive?

For real. Someone who claims to be ex-gay (hey, might be possible -- who knows?), and apparently they've had some experience in coming out of the closet. I came out to my mom, who has no problem with homosexuality, and I have the added "advantage" of being bisexual (half "straight" or whatever you would see it as). And it was still tough as shit. If Betty's situation was real, Aineo's advice is heartless and stupid. (As everyone else before me has said)

I also doubt that Betty is genuine and is simply a person trying to make a point. It seems odd that a mother, after her son killing himself which is arguably in part her fault, would hop onto an internet message board of which she had only made a couple posts to discuss it. I'd expect there to be a longer period of mourning here. If she had established a presence for a long time, I could see it happening but after less than ten posts? I doubt it.

That's not short. A friend of mine had a good friend who killed himself right in front of my friend only minutes after he told his dad he was gay.

Ah people do it all the time.

For instance, in my house we have one kitchen, downstairs. Yes, I know, we're below the poverty line. But damnit it I'm proud to be proletarian...and we'd be ruling Britain if it weren't for those C19th social reformers!

Anyway, the coment was

"Put this in the kitchen, downstairs."

Not the one that doesn't exist upstairs, then?

There's also

"I'm gonna win, or I'm gonna lose" from someone else before a judo contest. Admittedly a false dichotomy if you think about it, but it was still funny

Yeah I think Betty was making up a situation to make a point. But isn't it funny in a sick fundy kind of way how readily she was embraced, and how easy it was for her to make said point?

"Gee Betty we're real sorry your son is dead, but what can ya do? He was a homo, you know God can't stand that, of course you had to make him feel worthless sweetie...big hugs"

Disgusting.
