The claim has been made by some in the Jesus-myth crowd, but it requires either that Jews named a village as Nazareth some time between the writing of the Gospels and the writing of inscription at Caesarea Maritima, or it requires the inscription to have been written after Constantine found (or as some Jesus-mythers would have it, "found") what we call Nazareth, which would make for tight timing, since the inscription was written either before or just during Constantine's rise to power. The lack of complaint on Constantine or Helena's part that any renaming had to be done (i.e. a complaint that Jews or heathens changed the name from Nazareth to something else) would tend to lessen that second possibility. There really is no grounds for thinking that the site of Nazareth had a different name in the first century.

Unlikely, since nazirites aren't supposed to drink wine, and not only is there no tradition of Jesus having been a teetotaler, but Jesus was portrayed as having been accused of winebibbing.

I ask all professional historians, again, for proof that Jesus was actually born. The accounts in Matthew and Luke of Jesus Christ's birth are inconsistent and appear to be fictional. The book of Matthew claims that Jesus' birth was highly secretive, Luke claims that Jesus Christ's birth was joyous and publicly witnessed by shepherds who also told others oif his birth.
Matthew claims that Jesus Christ and his 'parents' fled to Egypt, without the knowledge of anyone , except for 3 wise men. Luke claims that Jesus and his family lived in Nazareth.
The genealogy of the father of Jesus Christ in Matthew and Luke is chaotic. In Matthew, Herod kills all children 2 years and under, this genocidal act is not recorded outside the book of Matthew. Luke claims Jesus was born during a census carried out when Cyrenius was governor of Syria, in the days when Herod was king of Judea.

I ask again, when was this Jesus Christ born, where was he born and where did he live as a child? I am waiting for all the professional historians who disagree that Jesus Christ is mythical to answer.

Now you're moving the goal posts. First you asked about evidence. Now you want proof. They are not the same thing.

The evidence is all the documents from the first and second centuries that say Christianity was started by a man from Nazareth called Jesus.

I am not arguing that it is good evidence. But it is evidence.

Just because a body of evidence is not sufficient to prove a proposition does not mean that there is no evidence.

Nonsense. If there were sufficient evidence that he lived, it would logically follow that he was born.

Nonsense. If there is no evidence that Jesus Christ was born, it would follow logically that he never lived.

When was Jesus Christ born? Was it just before Herod's death or during a census by Cyrenius? Did he live in Egypt as a child or not? Was the City of Nazareth on the brow of a hill, according to Luke?

Curiouser and curiouser, your logic is getting.

So, every human being whose birth is unattested by evidence must be presumed nonexistent. Got it.

I don't know where or when you were born, or where you lived as a child. Therefore, you don't exist.

Or maybe that's not logic at all, but wishful thinking. :devil3:

There is absolutely zero evidence, right now, that the universe was created. All we know scientifically is what happened a planck time after... something. According to your logic, it follows then that the universe never existed.

So because Clark Kent and Lois Lane lived in the USA, they were real people?

Where is your evidence that Jesus Christ was born and lived. I ask you again, was Jesus Christ born before the death of Herod or during the census carried out by Cyrenius? Did Jesus Christ live in Egypt as a child or Nazareth? Is Jesus Christ's grandfather Jacob or Heli? I need the evidence of your 'historic' Jesus.

You have refused to give any evidence, just speculative theories. I will continue to regard Jesus as fictional until evidence shows otherwise.

Concerning his birth, I have not even offered speculation because it is irrelevant.

Concerning his existence, I have offered evidence. You in turn have offered nothing but a non sequitur more flagrantly ludicrous that anything I've ever seen a fundamentalist come up with.
