The presenter on our morning tv news programme said that their prayers had been answered.
An hour later it was all change. The prayers had not been answered. I wonder: How many people will now think that it only appears that the perfectly-loving God didn't answer those prayers, but that's because, in his infinite wisdom (which we humans are ill-euipped to fathom) he did what was best; How many people think that letting those folks die was God's punishment of a wicked generation which condones homosexuality and abortion; How many people conclude that praying to god for anything at all is as productive as praying to Zeus or Superman? |

Here's an interesting thread on rapture-ready and on Freeconservatives.com
http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=236852 http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/...ad.php?t=30855 Somehow, when the news said 12 miners were alive, they "knew" God had saved them. Then the news changed, and no-one seems to notice that they were wrong. |

It's all just a strange double-think to maintain a cultural fantasy.
One moment it's something like 'Christ Jesus is Lord – He has bestowed upon us His Magnanimity and Love’. Next moment it's - 'they've gone to the Lord. It's all part of God's plan'. It's difficult for most of us to make sense of bereavement - but this is surely an ultimately unhelpful one. [How’s the new hip?] |

So, it's nothing to do with god after all.
Just plain ol' human error. God comes through, as always, smelling of roses. It's the "MediA" The "Managers" the "Some misguided idiot" who get the shit thrown at them. |

What gets me is news coverage showed some of the townsfolk saying things like "Thank God for keeping them alive"...(before they knew the opposite was true). But no one said "Thank God for the explosion". Or "thank God for putting those miners in harms way so I could thank God for saving their lives".
Obviously, the combined prayers of loved ones and towns folk, and even including prayers from across the world, along with the possible prayers of the miners themselves did nothing to sway Gods mind in keeping them alive. |

Didn't see the parenthesis, Hopeful Monister, sorry. And thank you for inquiring.
It's healed nicely (as far as I know); now it's a matter of waiting a bit for the next one... (Before Mr Stone went in with his chain saw and chisel, everyone I met seemed to know someone who'd had a new hip, and all said that afterwards the pain was gone. I learnt why; after the op. you are stuffed full of pain killers. It's no wonder you don't feel anything). "Seeing Angels?!?! Are these people just delusional?" (PostMortem) That RR site says it all. Haven't looked at again since this morning, but I suppose the thread will quickly sink out of sight. But will the experience these peoploe have been through make them pause for thought? Of course not. To do so would be to give in to Satan's temptation. |

It always disturbs me how they give God all the credit, but none of the blame. The mining article in my paper this morning mentioned the families and friends singing "How Great Thou Art" when they thought the miners were alive.
Shouldn't the new story be "What a heinous bastard Thou art", now that 12 of 13 are dead? |
