Default ID in U.S. Schools - The World is Watching

I clicked on the google news link for similar articles about the PA case, and found some about Kansas as well. But the interesting thing (to me) is how many other countries are watching:

I love the headline from South Africa: "Stand up against superstition!"

What freightens me is how much science and religion I would have to pump into my 3 kids so they could be prepared to ask objective questions if this were taught in their classes. My word! It makes me tired just thinking of it!

What frightens me is the fact that the USA is beginning to look intellectually bankrupt in comparison to most other developed countries.

Beginning? As I understand it, the general worldview has been like this for quite some time now. No offense, but that's how Americans are seen.

Lets admit, the moment the fundamentalists start taking over, and all the scientists jump ship to other nations (fingers crossed its Australia), then your nation won't be that great a super power, at least not intellectually.

Consider who "we" elect! Dumbasses want someone who's like them (not someone who's smarter than they are) and this is what we get. It's too bad Democrats aren't good at looking moronic enough to sway the swing voters. They always look dishonest when they try to relate to idiots.

America's dominance in post-graduate education derives from the Nazi era, when top university professors left Germany in droves and took jobs in U.S. universities. Current professors won't tolerate totalitarianism, either, though so far they won't get killed for being on friendly terms with Jews.

Intellectually bankrupt leaders and a ton of nuclear weapons...what a scary thought.

When I was in college (class of 1951) a gross disproportion of the top students were born in Germany. My brother was in the class of 1955. When he came along there were many children here of upperclass Chinese who had fled the communist revolution. Since then a disproportion of top students have been Asian.

Speaking of the world watching (this case), here's a link to the BBC's story:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4282692.stm
Quote:
Parents in court over evolution
By Roland Pease
BBC Science correspondent

... The case of the Dover School board is seen as vital by scientific organisations in restricting its spread.

They say that this is the biggest case in 18 years - taking the fight back to a court decision that "creation science" - ID's precursor - was in fact religion and therefore unconstitutional in the secular US education system.

They hope to prove the same of intelligent design, and they are prepared to take it all the way to the Supreme Court, if they have to.
I was dismayed today that the Philadelphia-based ABC news affiliate had not one mention of the Dover court case on their website today; although they did run a short story at noon. It's being covered everywhere but in the state where it's happening, it seems.

Yahoo news has an entire section: http://news.yahoo.com/fc/us/church___state_issues
