LOL, I had 6 but they could only get 5 of them. One of those weird traits some people have that of course have nothing to do with Evolution ![]() |

Extreme high speed motorbike accident in 1980.
Five ops in first year to put right leg back together. Two ops in second year, first to correct ingrown toenail on left leg (hard to limp on both legs), second to remove torn cartlidge/tendons right knee. Since then, three more ops on right knee to correct ongoing problems, fourth due later this year, possibly both knees this time. I'm on waiting list for two shoulder partial reconstructions. Couple of minor ops for catfish spike removal from hands. Apart from that, not a scratch. |

Two or three ingrown toe nails (big toe right foot)
surgery on same toe as above, apparantly the reason the toe kept getting infected was that a bone was growing UPWARDS, now only have half a toenail, decent looking scar and my nail now grows in two different directions. Had something done to close the gap between my two front teeth, a dentist also yanked out my last baby tooth with a lot of yanking and twisting. But my brother has a better story, he was admitted with appendicitis and the doctors promptly took it out. Turns out that nothing was wrong with the appendix (sp?), rather there was a tumour on it causing problems. There was a fancy term for it, it was not cancerous, yet was "ready to blow". If the pain had been anywhere else mum and/or the doctors probably would have ignored it until the tumour ruptured. |

Appendectomy in 1986: My pediatrician diagnosed me with minor stomach pain and send me home. My parents fortunately took me to an ER that night where appendicitis was found to be the real issue and I was operated immediately (according to doctor waiting another 24h might have been lethal). Before the sedatives kicked in, I noticed that the doctors and nurses were playing around with the monitors, adjustable beds, etc. Apparently this was their first week at a new hospital and they were not familiar with the equipment yet.
Survived the OP and stayed in hospital for a couple more days where the nurses were making fun of me because I could not stand up straight due to pain. Eventually a doctor checked me again, opened me up again and removed the fluid that had accumulated due to an improper appendectomy. |

Just two:
1969 – Surgery to correct a club foot – a birth defect. As an infant, I don’t really remember any of it. They tell me I had a cast for another 18 months – that I learned to walk in a cast. Then a leg brace for a while afterward. 2002 – Surgery for a burst appendix. I couldn’t get out of bed for a few days afterward and for a jittery person like me that was a living hell. I’d hit the nurse button every four hours exactly for more Demerol – the pain I could take but the sitting still was killing me. They sent me home with a tube and drip bottle attached to my abdomen. A week or so they removed it, the stiff tube was about two feet long and it felt like someone was pulling a sword out of my gut. The worst part – I didn’t have medical insurance at the time and didn’t qualify for any government assistance. It cost me over $13,000. |
