Default The End of Creationism

Ok, for the time being this may seem like a long way off, but lets suppose that at some point in the future, creationism is finally abandoned by the christian right. What will the fundamentalists try next to support their irrational beliefs? Will they attack another branch of science (... say, I don't know, fluid mechanics)? Or will they give up trying to paint their religion in a thin lacquer of 'science'? What do people here think will be the next step, as far off as this may seem?

Edit: Looking over what's new at their websites, I noticed two interesting facts. (1) They apparently only publish in their own newletter, not any longer in (fringe) scientific journals, like Galilean electrodynamics. (2) AiG (which they only call a "well-known organization",perhaps to make it more difficult to find) distances itself from them. :rolling:

"but lets suppose that at some point in the future, creationism is finally abandoned by the christian right"

Isn’t this already happening with the shift from Creationism toward Intelligent Design?

No, because that is not a shift. It's just a re-labelling for political purposes.

One has to remove the false dilemma that hinders their minds.

If evolution is true then the the bible is false...
If the bible is true then evolution is false
.

I would personally suggest a course in simple basic logic, for them to see the error of this long term misconception. This is basically the mistake I made for many moons, without noticing.

I've tried at my home Christian forum, to get them to understand that creationism isn't important, but to no end. Basically the uninformed Christian says "If I have a choice between science and God I choose God".

There you have it - thise false dichotomy rules their minds pertaining to this issue.

Well, it does have a small effect in that there's no longer any talk of 6 days or of a flood, but as far as this topic goes they are the same thing.

Well, don't forget Oolon, it took people like you to convince me of my errors. So it's bravo to you too.

Wasn't ID - Paley - a reaction to the attack on creationism by Lyell's "dreadful hammers"?

So ID and creationism are not bed fellows but actually contradictory? Are IDERS and OECs the same?

To a YEC they are both heretical, but of course YEC is heretical to a flat earther.

I often wonder why evolution draws their ire more than Big Bang Cosmology which it seems to me is far more of a threat to biblical dogma.

I can only think that the evidence and supporting mathematics are less accessible than evolution - which everyone no matter how misinformed seems to think they have a valid opinion on.
