The KKK is an avowedly Christian organization. It claims that cross burning has Scottish origins

Quote:
Many Christians consider it sacrilege to burn or otherwise destroy a cross. Klan Christians, however, states that it is not destroying the cross, but "lighting" it, as a symbol of the members' faith.[1]

In Scotland, the fiery cross, known as the Crann Tara, was used as a declaration of war. The sight of it commanded all clan members to rally to the defense of the area. On other occasions, a small burning cross would be carried from town to town. The most recent known use was in 1745, during the Jacobite Rising[2] and was subsequently described in the novels and poetry of Walter Scott.
Actual history
Quote:
The second Klan adopted a burning Latin cross as its symbol. No such crosses had been used by the first Klan, but the burning cross was used as a symbol of intimidation by the second Klan.[94] The burning of the cross was also used by the second Klan as a symbol of Christian fellowship, and its lighting during meetings was steeped in Christian prayer, the singing of hymns, and other overtly religious symbolism.[12]

The practice of cross burning had been loosely based on ancient Scottish clans' burning a St. Andrew's cross (an X-shaped cross) as a beacon to muster forces for war. In The Clansman (see above), Dixon had falsely claimed that the first Klan had used fiery crosses when rallying to fight against Reconstruction. Griffith brought this image to the screen in The Birth of a Nation; he portrayed the burning cross as an upright Latin cross rather than the St. Andrew's cross. Simmons adopted the symbol wholesale from the movie, prominently displaying it at the 1915 Stone Mountain meeting. The symbol has been associated with the Klan ever since.[95]

And if Paul preached a Mythological Jesus Christ then you can forget about Antigonus.

In Slavonic Josephus was Antigonus a man or a Myth?

Well, well, well!!! Why don't you answer the question?? You have brought "Antigonus" into this thread so you must FIRST identify your Antigonus.

Mythicists and the far Right (the Klan, the Nazis, the Haredim) agree that Christ was not a Jew. All these groups can join together around the burning cross.

Please stop this guilt by association. Besides, some mythicists believe that Jesus was a Jewish myth, created by Jews.

Only the Klan burns crosses, for fake historical reasons (or did you bother to read the actual history?)

No one else wants to be associated with a burning cross.

But they do not hold that he was a Jew, ie. a Jewish man. That is unacceptable to the mythicists. Anyway, which mythicist holds the position that Christ and the New Testament are wholly Jewish? R. G. Price in his self-published treatise is the only one I can think of. Every other mythicist roots Christ and the New Testament in some kind of pagan origin. Correspondences with the Talmud are never discussed by mythicists.

My own guess is that the Christianity of the Klan is only skin deep, that they harken back to the glory days of Celtic paganism, and that the scholarly consensus that Christ was a Jew is driving them into mythicism. Mythicists are paving the way for the far Right to establish a Jew-free Christ.

Why not, if it is nothing but, "quaint anthropological relics of humanities bloody and shameful past?"

In my case, began as a myth created by post-Temple non-indigenous Hellenistic 'Jews' (ethinic Judeans) primarily as religious/political propaganda intended for consumption by the Gentiles (Greeks) and contemporary non-indigenous 'Jews', circa 100-180 CE.

The myth began as a midrashim way for non-patriotic turncoat non-indigenous Diaspora 'Jews' to rationalize and explain away the destruction of the Temple and disassociate themselves from the previously overlording and now failed Priestly caste, while at the same time promoting themselves as being 'better' Jews than those other 'legalistic' Temple Jews in the eyes of the Hellenic societies they were now without choice compelled to adjust to and live within.
(basically the old 'me good injun, them bad injun' means of ingrating and integrating with a formidable foe.)

Once it caught on, the goyim took it and ran with it, creatively adapting to it popular tropes and theology drawn from their own philosophical/religious heritages.
The finished NT is not solely a Jewish production, nor a Greek production, but rather a stew of religious elements gleaned from half a dozen cultures and dozens of sectarian cults.
All finally standardized by the destruction of all variant texts along with wholesale execution of those who possessed such, or who would not conform to the demands of the emergent Orthodoxy.

If burning a cross in my yard would put a stop to all this Jesus nonsense then sign me up! But we all know that fiery crosses do nothing but add even more crazy to something that's already full to the brim.

So where does the "goyim's syncretized mythical sun god" come in? Is it the product of "post-Temple non-indigenous Hellenistic 'Jews'?" And why the scare quotes?
