According to Christian theology, Adam is the first human.

In Genesis 1:1-2, we have a description of the earth prior to Adam's creation.


In Jeremiah 4:23-26 we have a description of an early earth as well. I believe many study bibles reference Gen 1:2 to this passage.

Which book is older - Genesis or Jeremiah?
From whose perspective is Jeremiah supposed to be narrated from?

Jeremiah is describing the desolation he predicts in Judah after falling to a northern enemy. Verse 23 uses imagery from the creation account - as if the land goes back to its primeval condition. TMK Genesis 1 in its complete form should be later than Jeremiah, but this does not rule out the existence of "tohu wabohu" as a figure of speech.

It's interesting to note that the LXX does not copy the phrase from each other

For example in Genesis 1:2 the Greek has
aoratos kai akataskeuastos - unseen and unformed

whereas Jeremiah 4:23 the Greek has
ouden - nothing

going back to the OP, I'm not sure how these two lines could be used to determine dating, the perspective of Jeremiah is prophetic vision, I can see the Genesis phrase as becoming similar to our "bomb you back to the stone age" or "to kingdom come"
