The thread by Yangja Isuko inspires me to share some "insider" information with you that may be revealing. I see quite a few xian "missionaries" in my practice. After seeing many thousands of patients, you can get a certain "feel" about personality types. Let me say that my overall impression of xian missionaries is NOT GOOD. Here are some general characteristic traits that I have encountered: unhappy, unkind, righteous, imperious, anxious, demanding. Most of our staff members don't like missionaries. You need these traits to destroy native belief systems and bring the "glory" of xianity to all parts of the globe.
Actions speak louder than words. I believe a good assessment of a religion's belief system is the final product outcome: what are religion "y" people like? As far as "religions" go, who are the most serene, accepting, rational people I see? Buddhists. BTW: this thread is inspired by both Yangja Isuko and the syrah I'm currently drinking (usually a cab drinker). Cheers. |
