Default This would be considered a miracle only if.....

Hi all

Imagine if there was a major earthquake in Rio de Janeiro and the only thing left standing was the statue of Jesus Christ the redeemer. I think many believer would be quick to capitalize on this as a "miracle".

But such a disaster really did happen back on May 27 1995. Accept this was a large town of Neftegorsk on Sakhalin Russia just north of Japan. The problem was the only thing that was really left standing was a statue of Lenin. So would you call that a miracle?

Praise Lenin!...er...

That's typical blinders...a believer would ignore the total devastation and death that was allowed, and yet the statue stands. You'd think god could be less destructive with his messages...like just burning a bush or something...

Hey, people found a cross in the rubble of the WTC on 9-11.
They found it touching that God took so many of his children home that day.

I'd have found it more touching if everyone walked unblemished out of the destruction. I'd be a lot more likely to believe the cross was a sign, not a coincidence....

We had a fire in our apartment once. The bible burned, but the Playboys were untouched, by flame, smoke, water or soot.

I presume the fact the PlayBoy's were saved must be an example of the devil at work.

And this:

Is truly sickening. Difficult to understand why people would think this, and rule out God's involvement in the disaster itself.

Well, that and i used the bible to try to beat out the flames...

I've had a Baptist roommate reach past my Necronomicon, my ouija board, my tarot cards a my books on reincarnation, eastern religions and assorted things in the general religious philosophy genre, to tap my playboy magazine and tell me that was going to send me to hell.

Satan is up to his old tricks again, he killed 3000 people at the WTC.

Jesus
What are you going to do about it, Dad?

God
I saved a cheap cross someone had bought from a souvenir shop in Mexico

Question

Maybe I don't get what you're saying, but it could be a sign from a god who favors Marxism. Are you implying that such a god couldn't exist?

As for the question of whether it could be a sign from my gods (the Roman gods), that would depend on whether any of these gods might favor Marxism. I'm skeptical, but it's possible. I think at least a few of them of them would find something to like about the theories and practices of Marxism, but off the top of my head I can't think of any Greek or Roman god who could really swallow the whole package. I could be wrong; nevertheless, I would prefer to attribute it to a god outside the Roman pantheon.
