Sheesh, are all mathematicians unable to have nuanced discussions?

Have you ever been tested for Asperger's syndrome? You are very difficult to talk to.
And what was your point about how disrespecting beliefs is equivalent to disrespecting people? Looks like you just skipped the beliefs part and went straight into attacking the person.

Remember, though, brett, I'm the one who's "angry" here...no matter how many insults are made towards me, I'm the one who's "angry" and therefore, I'm the one who's in the wrong.

(or at least that is what LadyShea--along with almost all the mods and admins--would seem to have you believe...)

*sigh* I'm going to bed.

Sincerely,

Goliath

Yes, brett, I did. I am attacking the way he communicates. Please see my last post. Oh, and I asked about the Asperger's seriously, it was not meant as an insult. People with Asperger's have difficulty with non literal communications, and I thought if he had it, it might help me communicate better and not expect "reading between the lines"

So far, Goliath has called me assinine and whiny. Why is it okay for him to attack me?

Well Goliath, you ignored my last post, where I am trying to reach out to you and discuss ways to communicate better . Any attacks I have made on you are a direct response to how you speak to me.

I am sorry we can't discuss civily. Sleep well.

Goliath,

I understand and appreciate the distinction.

In my opinion, addressing me as "xian" in the way you did here

showed disrespect towards me as a person. "xian" is not my name.

You are trying to tell him that he can't disrespect others opinions without showing disrespect for the person. Now you're saying you can attack the way Goliath communicates without attacking him as a person. Either you're being a hypocrite, or you're making his point.

Specifically, he said "whiny assertions," and I haven't seen anywhere he called YOU assinine. Your comments are laced with You Are, You are, You are, and you went beyond whiny and a rolleyes icon. I didn't say it was ok for him to attack you as a person. Even if he did, it's not the point he's making.

So, you're saying it may not be ok to disrespect someones ideas and beliefs, even though those beliefs deserve it, but it is ok to disrespect and attack the person as long as they deserve it.

I think this thread was accidentally left closed after the split, so I'm going to reopen it. Please remember this is one of those threads that can get out of hand quickly due to the personal nature of the discussion. If that happens, then it will be closed again.

LadyShea, I owe you an apology. I didn't see the post that you made that was just before the post by brett to which I replied.

Oh, and excellent points, brett!

Sincerely,

Goliath
