But - that being said - I want to be clear on a couple of points: (1) Relevant to the OP: I don't really subscribe to the notion that ridicule is a good or useful approach to dealing with a common perspective that seems to be illogical and often productive of negative results (as Christianity seems to me). (2) However, I have been moved to participate in this thread, not because I have any desire to "pick a fight", but because - as far as I'm concerned - the interesting thing about this thread is that it does point out the apparent nonsensicality of Christianity, a seeming invitation to thoughtful Christians to explain why it's not really nonsensical. That they cannot or will not take up that challenge, but appear to hide behind - as I said - vague, airy, condescending, "you-wouldn't-understand" evasions, confirms my suspicions. Confirms, that is, in the "etymological" sense of the word; not to be confused with "proves". So if there are any sincere Christians reading this who are willing to engage the question: "how are these seemingly illogical/impossible things not sufficient reason for the objective truth-seeker to dismiss Christianity?" - without condescending dismissal, or evasive, snarky one-liners intimating that the question is somehow offensive, stupid, or not worth addressing, this sincere and normally polite truth-seeker would be graciously appreciative. * ETA: Never mind... I figured out how to do the "Ignore" thing (it's an option one the User's Profile of the individual you want to Ignore - in case there are others out there, like me, for whom the need hasn't come up before. Clouseau will no longer be an annoyance to me. But if there's anyone that can address the question, it's a serious one. |

It isn't necessary to think the chap an idiot, of course; merely whether you want to get wound up by someone or not. All the best, Roger Pearse |

Go to User CP (upper left on your screen under the thread title) and look at the list to the left. At the bottom you will find Buddy/Ignore which will allow you to add screen names.

I'm not familiar with the process since I can't ignore anybody. That is, without question, the biggest drawback to being a moderator. |

ETA - oops! I forgot to push the "save" button! Now I will be spared the annoyance. Thanks again. |
