How much does the quality of the prize figure into a persons willingness to alter their lives servicing its attainment?
Suppose it turns out that Jesus was not so much the king of kings, but more of a queen of queens? Perhaps heaven for Jesus is to fuck you in the ass for eternity. To some of us this may seem a very poor prize. If all else were equal, instead of imagining heaven as something that pleases themselves, what if its only purpose was to please a homosexual Jesus? Would you still alter your life to attain this prize? Oh, but Christians don't alter their lives for the prize, or do they? |

So, needing to change is not necessary (you wouldn't know if it were not true until the supposed afterlife anyway) but changing it is required (unless you are so feebleminded that you can only follow someone else's version to the letter) to make it fit so many different people. The "prize" is not as important as the marketing/brainwashing that gets you to believe that there is a prize and what it's worth might compare to. |
