As is stating your story is interesting and fascinating. It may be to you, but you really need to include that little disclaimer.

Ah, the facts emerge.
In as much as they were grossly misrepresented in your little parody, I would say their emergence would be an improvement over the implications you're trying to peddle in that story.

"All seem to emanate from nothing, har de har." - sophie

I call shenanigans!

____________
First, Brain-Wave theory (Five over-planes, one interacted with ours, explosively, and voila').

____________
Second, 11 dimensional String Theory (existed in a state without time, 11th dimension {our three}, and had to balance out or something {or simply just allowed for it, I don't really know}, and did so in the form of an explosion). There was a Nova special on it a while back.

____________
Third, Enclosed (4 dimensional hypersphear shaped space) cyclic system (infinent regression, no beggining, no need for creation).

____________
Fourth, Black Hole concepts, which I know nothing about, and thus cannot rule out any more than a creator.

---------------------------------------------------

Odd, those all appear to envolve us coming from -Something-. Perhaps I misunderstand your definition of "nothing" sophie. Would you care to enlighten me?

Ah, Vicar Philip, we cannot all be perfect. I must then truly apologise for being slightly antoganistic due to the lack of a disclaimer.

Was a funny fuzzy feeling Saturday included in 'The peddler and the implication'.

As far I understand it, this is another of those "Ha, Ha, those silly scientists think the world came from nothing. What a silly idea! Have you ever seen something come from nothing? I sure haven't, ha ha ha" stories. It simultaneously portraits the big bang as the atheists/scientists god, and requiring just as much faith. Is this about right?

I saw a similar one some time ago, which featured the atheist hearing an explosion and asking the True Believer(tm) who or what had made that bang. He replied something lalong the lines of "Aha, so you admit that a bang must have been made by someone, while at the same time you assert that an even bigger bang didn't have a cause! What a silly idea! Ha Ha Ha!

I also am a small-time labourer, but I have at least bothered to familiarize myself with the current state of science as to cosmological origins. And rainbowwalking and Matrioshka are right: None of the prevailing scientific hypotheses posit that the universe came from nothing.

It is only fundies who claim that!
