Woo hoo! My argument has graduated to weak!

His salvation is by personal faith. There is no personal faith on the part of the dead involved in baptism for the dead, so that directly contradicts Pauls' message, as opposed to simply being unique but otherwise compatible.
On the New Perspective reading of Paul, much of this paragraph is suspect or at least susceptible to nuancing and modification. I hate to keep harping on it, and I actually dislike labels (especially noncontent labels like this one), but I do recommend you pick up some New Perspective books or articles. You may end up vehemently disagreeing anyway, but at least you would know what I am talking about, I think.

Ben.

ETA: A caveat that I have issued before on the New Perspective: This viewpoint is rich in conservative, post-Lutheran scholars (though the school is by no means confined to them). Part of the reason for this is simply that religious scholars have more motivation to figure out what Paul means in religious terms, not merely historical terms.

As Amaleq13 has said the same nothing he's been saying for ages, then my response is "nothing comes of nothing"1.

I should not be surprised if you are the only person in the world who thinks that of your discussions with Amaleq13.

Ben.
