I’ve often encountered such anger. I suppose the question will go unanswered regarding the reason for this anger.

And who is in the position to know whether or not there is a god?

I couldn’t agree more. I try to use reason and evidence to inform people that God cannot exist.

Would you classify deists as being mentally ill?

Let's not stigmatise: "having a mental illness" is not exactly the same as "being mentally ill" - the latter is for extremely serious conditions which pose danger to the individual or others; the former is more analagous to conditions which range from the mental equivalent of a bad cold (eg depression) to more serious psychoses.

The question therefore posed is "do deists suffer from a mental illness"?

My answer: yes.

This is horse hockey - the equivalent of mental masturbation:

My, look how much more evolved the atheist brain is...if we could only cure our lesser endowed brethren, how much better off the world would be!

How benevolent.

How egotistical.

How much like the radical theists you are...

I wouldn't classify anybody as "mentally ill" simply because he or she belongs to a particular religion. So my answer to your question is no. However, I might very well consider anybody who claims to have "visions" or claims to be in contact with some god as having emotional problems.

No, haaha. I was suffering from sleep deprivation when I posted the question. I agree with you. I am a deist and I am definitely mentally ill.

"And who is in the position to know whether or not there is a god?"

No one, that's the whole point, it's a matter of opinion, no one "knows" one way or the other.

My observations are as follows:

1)Believers are incredibly dumb.

2)Priests and pastors and mullahs etc are:

a)Incredibly dumb or
b)crooks

There is no other explanation. Both a and b qualify to be arrested for crimes against humanity.
