I don't get 90% of it either... but I'm willing to bet, turning all fo Erwin's modifications form code-changes to hooks is what is taking the better part of forever (Now, if he was smart, he wrote a lot of them like that before he took it offline, and he's just hit lots of bugs.)

Perhaps when you make alterations to one version of software (as I believe Erwin has done) then when you want to update to another version would it not see that the alterations in the original were a sort of "bug" and couldn't do the update with the original data. Just my "illiterate" understanding of what might be the sort of problems involved.
