I don't get 90% of it either... but I'm willing to bet, turning all fo Erwin's modifications form code-changes to hooks is what is taking the better part of forever (Now, if he was smart, he wrote a lot of them like that before he took it offline, and he's just hit lots of bugs.)

Well, I reckon I'll be out of the running soon.
Off to work and I admit I won't be surprised if CF is still down when I get home tonight..
Have a good day/night all and hope you get some sleep tonight Brad

Perhaps when you make alterations to one version of software (as I believe Erwin has done) then when you want to update to another version would it not see that the alterations in the original were a sort of "bug" and couldn't do the update with the original data. Just my "illiterate" understanding of what might be the sort of problems involved.

I think ti comes down to the idea that JelSoft wrote a way to put in the vB hacks that doesn't involve actually editing the source files for VBulliten anymore. So all of Erwin's myriad hacks has to be recoded from vB 3.0 to 3.5... without all of those things, I imagine this would have been a far easier, far quicker process.

My guess is that "Product/Plugin system with over 550 'hook' locations strategically placed in the code. Allows modification and extension of vBulletin without physical alteration of the vBulletin PHP scripts." means that it will be easier next time. Erwin is probably converting modified PHP scripts into extensions.

Note: I don't have any experience with this software, so this is just a guess.
