The New Testament says that Mary (and however many others - take your pick) turned up at the tomb on Sunday (at whatever time - take your pick) and Jesus had risen/disappeared. My question is :-

Does it actually say anywhere in the bible that God/Jesus confirms that he rose on a Sunday? (Paul doesn't count. :devil1

. It just says that the tomb was empty - does anywhere specify when he actually rose? Offhand I can't think of anywhere but any information would be greatly appreciated to try and narrow down the exact time. I am looking for actual biblical verses.

If you know that no biblical verses agree with the Sunday resurrection please feel free to inform me as well.

The only verse which explicitly says that Jesus rose on Sunday is Mark 16:9, part of the so-called long ending of Mark, widely regarded as a later addition:

Determining from other canonical texts that Sunday is the day of resurrection is via inference rather than explicit declaration. All agree that some time after the Sabbath is when the woman/women visited the tomb. Here is Luke's account:

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they went in, they did not find the body

It must be said, however, there is no verse which states specifically that Jesus rose on any day other than Sunday, so Saturday-resurrection proponents base their argument on Jesus' prediction of a burial of "three days and three nights" (Matthew 12:40), and count forward 72 hours from the time of the crucifixion, which they believe occurred on Wednesday. Early Christian documents, like the Epistle of Barnabus, attest to the belief that Jesus rose on Sunday:

8 Furthermore he says to them, "Your new moonsand the sabbaths I cannot away with." Do you see whathe means? The present sabbaths are not acceptable tome, but that which I have made, in which I will giverest to all things and make the beginning of an eighth day, that is the beginning of another world.

9 Wherefore we also celebrate with gladness the eighth day [Sunday] in which Jesus also rose from the dead, and was made manifest, and ascended into Heaven.

I didn't know about Mark 16:9.

The people that I interact with use the KJV so I am not familiar with the Epistle of Barnabus.
