Paradise? How so? You mean you will be close to god and feel comfort? That is a BIOLOGICAL response to a physical world. Comfort is defined as all of your needs are met. Paradise is something on earth- oxegen, water, food, warmth, love, joy.

Think about it. Everything that makes you happy is a physical, human need in order to not DIE. What will you need in heaven? What will be so wonderful? A closeness "feeling" to god. You wont FEEL anything, your nerves don't exist anymore.....

Magus55 is my favorite christian post-er on the site because he just knows everything. He never says how he knows, or why on earth we should believe him, but he asserts everything with such dogmatic confidence that it's cute.

Hell I know all about Heaven from TV. You eat whipped cream cheese, drink Red Bull, make cheap collect phone calls, and there are thongs alright, with matching bras and garter belts. Don't know about any white robes. The Collect phone call angel seems to go for white jump suits. The Victoria's Secret Angels prefer black. If you're looking for me I'll be rapture ready around their cloud

What about the other thousands of intelligent species that MUST exist somewhere in the universe? Will they be in the Xtian heaven, or do they have their own?

If "no one knows what we will do" how can you say "it won't be nothing but worship?" One of those statements has to be in error. Which one is it?

Furthermore, if "no one knows what we will do" in heaven, then what is your argument to persuade people that they ought to want to go there?

Quote:
For example, the first thing Jesus does once all believers are in Heaven, and judgement is over, is throw a heavenly banquet for everyone.
You need to eat food in heaven? That's a new one I haven't heard before. But if your answer is that you don't need to eat food to survive in heaven, then why would you want to eat food at all? Just because it tastes good? Why would perfect bodies that don't need food to survive, have taste buds? Taste buds are a survival adaptation, creatures that need food to survive are more likely to eat if they enjoy it. But that doesn't apply to the perfect bodies you say we'll have in heaven.

So why the banquet?

How can it be a place "the human mind can't even begin to conceive" and yet it is also "the best place imaginable"? If I can't imagine it, how can it be the best place I can imagine?

The details aren't important - knowing we will be with God is. God made a bigger deal about Hell because He doesn't want anyone to go there.
Then perhaps he shouldn't have created the place, hmmm? Or perhaps he shouldn't send anyone there, hmmm?

Quote:
How does not sinning take away free will? We would still be in paradise right now if it weren't for sin. Would you really be stupid enough to be in a place of eternal happiness and bliss, knowing how awful a world full of sin was by experiencing it first-hand, and then go right around and throw paradise away all over again?
Speaking of hate and venom, why do you hate life so much?

Quote:
It would take an extremely stupid person to give up Heaven after knowing what life on Earth was like from sin.
So heaven is like some kind of Mensa society? Is it a sin to be that stupid, I wonder? Can god make a person so stupid that they can't appreciate heaven?

Quote:
Satan called on a third of God's angels and tried to rebell against God, and take over the throne. Satan wanted God's authority and power. Michael, is God's head Archangel, and He battled Satan's followers and fought them out of Heaven. Spiritual battles between good and evil, angels and demons go on all the time. That one just happened to be the first and the biggest.
But Satan was able to sin in heaven, so why can't the rest of us?

What if I change my mind about my relationship with jebus after I get to heaven? Can I become unsaved? If not, then where did my free will go?

Gosh, Magus seems to have misplaced his ignore list again.

Does God put that information into people's heads? For example, if you knew someone as a child but meet them as an old person, does god reach into your mind and age-progress the stored image?

En masse on Judgement Day. Judgement is after the 1000 year kingdom. And not sure what happens to souls.

Seems kind of boring for souls, just hanging around till then. What your god needs is a nice waiting room filled with magazines.

We will have perfect, incorruptible bodies like Jesus' body after ressurection. Jesus' body looked just like it did before He died, so ours probably will too,

What's the point of having genitalia if you're not planning to use them?

although we won't have any imperfections ( like missing limbs).

What if there's something you consider an imperfection, like spotty skin, but which maybe god doesn't consider so bad? Do you get the improvement anyway?

Heaven must be full of Barbie dolls.

And we can travel anywhere in the universe instantly like the angels can.

Alfred Bester was here already. The Stars my Destination, I believe.

No one knows what we will do, but it won't be nothing but worship.

First part of sentence contradicts second part.

For example, the first thing Jesus does once all believers are in Heaven, and judgement is over, is throw a heavenly banquet for everyone.

What, with real food? Is there any point to eating, given that you can't die if you don't eat? Isn't that just physical pleasure, akin to sex without the possibility of reproduction?

And what happens to all the digested food?

Who said there won't be?

Animals don't have souls. Are you saying that god resurrects them anyway? I think there's something in Revelations about the bad things that will happen to someone who adds to this story.

We will each have our own mansion. Privacy won't be an issue - what do you have to hide?

Then why have your own mansion? If there's nothing to hide, simply live together.

Yes we are clothed, in robes of pure white.

Why do they have to be robes of pure white? If someone wants a different color, does god say no?

Not sure, Bible doesn't say. Bible doesn't say.

At least you're honest about the bible's lack of description regarding heaven (even though it goes into excruciating detail about dietary laws and the precise setup of the temple).

Probably what ever "age" everyone else will be, although Age is irrelevent since time has no meaning in Heaven.

Age is relevant because old people behave and look different from children. Unless you're saying that in heaven, crones play in sandboxes while infants do mysterious complicated things involving prime numbers.

No they don't stay married or "live" together.

The verse you quoted doesn't say that they can't live together. I would like to know how someone stops loving their spouse and wanting to live with them. Does god brainwash them so that they no longer wish to be with their husband or wife?

No "of course" about it. If the bible can describe the precise appearance of the Whore of Babylon, it can describe god's home as well.

<flame deleted>

and second - who cares what Heaven is like other than it being paradise?

1. I care. Well, strictly in an academic sense; it doesn't affect me emotionally.
2. I would like to know what precisely makes heaven so good. Saying "it's paradise" doesn't quite cut it, if you see what I mean.

Its the best place imaginable for believers.

For monochromatic asexual believers who seem curiously devoid of familial ties, perhaps. Heaven never seemed like much fun to me, but after hearing your description of it, Magus, it seems more bizarre than ever.
