| The Biblical God forgot an oath he made

Exodus 32:9-14 says that God forgot an oath he repeatedly made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and had to be reminded by Moses so he would not destroy the Hebrews. (NIV) 9 "I have seen these people," the LORD said to Moses, "and they are a stiff-necked people. 10 Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation." 11 But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. "O LORD," he said, "why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, 'It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth'? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. 13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.' " 14 Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened. Ok, Christians, especially inerrantists, please explain why God needed to be reminded by Moses of an oath he made. |

Can I try an excuse out? *clears throat* This part of the Bible is not meant to be taken literally because God knows all. Since God knows all, this means he can not forget something. Since this passage has God forgetting something, we can obviously conclude it wasn't meant to be taken literally. Good enough? Boy, you know? This passage actually does explain a lot. Since God is a forgetful creature, that probably explains how the Earth became tilted. God must've been in the process of creating it when he turned his back for a split second, forgot about it, and it tilted over. *slaps forehead* |

Exodus 32:10 said that G-d would make Moses into a great nation, and Moses was a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, so G-d would not have broken the covenant with them.

Why would Moses have to remind him at all? God told Moses to leave him alone cause He was pissed as shit and said he was going to destroy them. So, God says he will destroy them. Moses reminds God and God doesn't do it. Yep, that sure sounds to me that God didn't need reminding.

Ok, so let me get this straight?! If Moses had not said anything God would have what? A) killed all the jews thus become a liar for breaking his word to Abraham at al. b) was jsut testing moses by LYING to moses?! Interesting - either way your dog is a liar at best or pshyco.
