I take it here you're referring to the ridiculous concept that the spilling of someone elses blood (or some animals in the OT) somehow gets rid of sin?

Yeah, that never made sense to me.

Maybe there's a sin meter for everyone in heaven. As sins pass through, it goes up. When the soul of a slaughtered animal goes through, it goes down.
Oh wait, animals don't have souls!

They do have yummy goodness inside tho, so when you open it up for god he enjoys it greatly just like one would enjoy a good steak.

And now for something weird: When it says that god created light at the beginning does that mean all frequencies of light or just visible light? If it's all light then is there really a lot of space in the universe completely devoid of any type of light and therefore "dark" in that sense? Is the separation light and darkness black holes or something? And I'd really like to know the measurement of days without the sun and the earth orbiting the sun, has any apologetic answered that?

Yeah, I dunno what the hell I'm talking about .

Hmmmm . . . someone repost that smiley with the fingers in its ears since it rather summarizes the extent of Magus' posts.

Picture:

Welcome to the forums . . . mind the hounds.

If you review some of the scholarly works in Genesis, you will note the problem results from two separate creation myths stich'd together. As noted by Ion, you have the P version followed by the "doom 'n gloom" J version. Both have similarities to earlier creation myths.

The creation is "very good" but something happened that you overlooked...

...the "fall" of mankind. We sinned, giving Satan free rein in our lives and in our minds....

...That's where alot of this bad stuff originates, and then you have the silly Isrealites who constantly do anything but what they are commanded, and God constantly has to punish them...

...which equals, nothing but more doom 'n' gloom...

PS-Thank you for your hospitality!

Yet Satan does not appear in either of the creation myths.

No, sorry, the serpent is not Satan.

One has to be careful "linking" texts because they did not necessarily agree with one another. The Israeli "murmuring," for example--"Hey he just blasted a bunch of Egyptians! He just took you out of slavery! He just parted a sea! What are you going to do?" "Build a golden calf and worship it!!"--are politically motivated stories. Again, a good resource on this is Friedman's Who Wrote the Bible?.

But the bible does say that satan came in the form of a serpent...

The "..."fall" of mankind..." chronologically happens after 'God' proclaimed that 'God''s creation is "...very good...".

So, omniscient 'God' didn't foresee the "..."fall" of mankind..."?

Because you got a contradiction here:

1.) 'God' is omniscient;

2.) in spite of 1.), 'God' didn't foresee the "..."fall" of mankind..." when 'God' proclaimed that the creation is "...very good...".

To Kosh:

We, as in ourselves, may not have been there, but the sin 1) travelled to us through Adam, and 2) We have all sinned anyways according to the laws of the Bible.

To Ion:

At the time of God's proclaimation, it was good, isn't it?

Stop with the BS, Picture. Do you want to be held legally accountable for anything your father/grandfather/great-grandfather may have done wrong?

Get yourself into the modern times and start thinking for yourself.

Adam never existed. The earth is more than 6000 years old, and it's scary to think that you're in college and aren't getting a proper education.
