The sources of 'The Son of Man' trope are much earlier than the NT writings.
Its usages in Genesis, Numbers, Job, Psalms, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, and in such intertestamental works as 'The Book of Enoch' are what inform any accurate understanding of what the term meant to contemporary ears.

The 'Son of God', that is the beni-Elohim, applied to all men, as all men were 'fathered' (brought into being) by One Elohim.
(which was the argument being expressed in John 10:33-36, holy men in their very being, each being an living expression of ha-Elohim, His 'sons' or a 'son', (ideally) all being of one mind with Him, and conducting themselves as is befitting of the elohim; "I have said; "Ye are elohim. And ALL of you are children of the Most High."(Psa 82:6 ) +Gen 3:5, Deut 10:17, Josh 22:22, Psalm 82:1-4, Psa 97:7, Psa 138:1, and much within Daniel as to by what source he was able to interpret ( Dan 2:11 & 2:47)
Daniel essentially being the 'Son' of THE Elohim, and visable form of that One 'Elohim' that was (then) present, speaking, and being in an unbreakable UNITY, 'one' with THE ONE Elohim whom was his 'Father', Master, and Revealator.

These were and are the writings that ought to inform our understanding of how these terms were and are to be understood.
