Mageth-

I still don't know how to do the "orignally posted" box thing. So I'm sorry that I keep calling your name.

I guess if you're waiting for God to call, in a way, He is doing that, now. But whatever expectations you had on the Lord, He will do above and beyond what we can ask or think (you've heard it before I'm sure). But you have to believe that He is good, that He will do that.

I just am not the product of a judgmental sort of church, because I avoided any and all churches which tried to portray Jesus as upset with me. He's not upset with me, so why would I believe that He is? But some denominations are built on that idea, and they'd be better off just leaving people alone.

Which is why, apparently, I needed to be reached by God apart from any denomination. And it changed my whole outlook on Christianity, becuase I no longer saw Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson, or whoever unbelievers would typically bring up as the textbook Christian (and BTW, I don't believe that Pat or Jerry are typical, nor do I follow them, and for that matter I haven't heard them). They're mere men.

Anyway, if the relationship with God isn't satisfying, then nothing in life will be. So dig in and keep trying, personally, if it's still on your heart to do so.

Well, thanks for the sentiment, but as was mentioned this isn't the forum for that kind of "preaching". In fact, a personal message like that is better sent in a PM (Private Message).

I REALLY don't want to come down hard on you, or give you a bad impression on your first day, but I would like to call your attention to this passage from the "Lounge Rules", which you can read in their entirety here:

Quote:
* Theists are welcome to introduce themselves and socialize with other users, but not to proselytize, preach, witness, or otherwise promote a theistic viewpoint; such posts are unwelcome here and will be subjected to heavy-handed moderation.
(Original emphasis)

Please, stick around and get to know the place. If you want to discuss religious viewpoints, particularly your own, might I recommend General Religious Discussions?

Edit to add - I see Mageth has beat me to the punch, as it were. Sorry for the needless repetition. Carry on.

I'm sorry. I'll make sure in the future that my lounge commentary is sufficiently sanitized for the politically correct of all persuasions. Which means I won't be posting in the lounge again...

It has nothing to do with political correctness. Read the link deadbeat provided for the reasons for this rule (mainly, that the Lounge is a place to get to know each other, and there are other forums provided for preachin' and whatnot). You are free to preach away to your heart's content with any version of Christianity you desire in the appropriate forums.

It has nothing to do with sanitation or PC, it is simply a place for non-theists to discuss life issues and receive support without being witnessed to and preached at.

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy your stay, but please don't interpret our simple rules as some form of persecution. I also suggest you think about some evidence to back up any assertion you plan to make. Personal anecdotes aren't very convincing.

Hi jkf727 and welcome to the forums. I'd like to take the opportunity to welcome you but point out that preaching of any sort isn't welcome here, because this isn't a board to share and declare our personal convictions. We are more than happy to discuss or argue over religious issues, but the Lounge isn't the place for it.

Regards

Default moving this thread

Welcome to iidb JKf727 I hope you enjoy your time with us. I'm moving this thread to General Religious Discussions where it will be open to broader debate than is possible in this forum.

Please stay with us and feel free to discuss your religious understanding in an open but non-preachy manner.

Hello JK… and welcome.

Let me ask you something… in this personal relationship you have with God/Jesus, how exactly does he communicate with you?

Also, you may want to ease up on the preaching. We’ve heard it all a thousand times before, and honeymoons tend to be pretty short around here. You don't want to become lion food on your first day.
