Default A higher power

Atheists on this forum have said that they believe there is a power higher than themselves. If they do, then why would they not believe in Jesus Christ? They have cited reasons as being that the bible is based on the spuernatural & they don't believe in he supernatural. So what is this power higher than yourselves that you believe in? Other atheists say they don't believe in a power higher than themselves. So which is it? Your belief system seem to be just as confusing to you guys as it is to others. Can you clarify this without contradicting yourselves?

The higher power is not Jesus, it's nature.

For the last time...

Atheism is not a belief system!

[are we clear on this?]

It's no wonder you'll get a diversity of opinions from atheists, particularly with such an ill-defined term as "higher power."

For the 1 millionth time, atheism doesn't have any sort of doctrine any more than THEISM has a set doctrine. If I said "wait, some of you theists believe in Jesus as God, some of you other theists believe that Jesus was only a prophet and calling him God is blasphemy. Some of you other theists think that Jesus was just some carpenter and has no religious relevance. Can you theists clarify yourselves without contradicting yourselves?" doesn't that sound just a bit nonsensical? Because we know that THEISM isn't a religion, it's a description of various religions.

So why do you try to control nature if you admit it's more powerful than you? That's another contradiction.

What do you mean by trying to control nature? Give me an example.

I didn't get the memo! When did my lack of belief in unsubstantiated deities become a belief system? How does it work exactly is there going to be tithing can we opt out if we join the agnostic club?

Define power and place it in a context of higher than oneselve. Otherwise it is pretty much meaningless. Lightning has lots of power, so does an avalanche and that fucktard GW Bush.

Sorry, but atheism is definitely a belief system. You either believe the opinions of men or the opinions of God. If you don't believe the opinions of men, then why do you have opinions? Do you have them because you think they're wrong?

Alter the weather. If nature is more powerful than man then why cannot man come from dust?
