This is not a list of quotes, but here are some explanations of why Jews don't believe in Jesus: http://www.aish.com/spirituality/phi..._In_Jesus$.asp http://www.jewsforjudaism.org/web/ha...s_messiah.html |

Absurd! The quotations are accurate, regardless of the source, ie. they were compiled by Messianic Jews. So what? What do you have to say about the quotations themselves? Absolute, embarrassed silence would be my guess.

The quotes may accurately reflect that persons words, but they are certainly out of context, and they are not representative of common jewish thought. Sorry that I don't have a quote-mined list of opposing quotes. Even if I did, it wouldn't prove anything, just as the biased list of quotes taken out of context you provided doesn't prove anything. Alethias. ETA: And what's with the 'absolute, embarrassed silence' bit? I'm an atheist. I'm feeling confused by that remark. |

Just as I said: you have nothing at all to say about the quotations themselves. You have only a vague charge of "quote mining". How, for example, is this "quotation mining":
"I personally regard Him as one of the greatest spiritual teachers the world has ever known." (J.L. Levy, Rabbi) You provide only an embarrassed silence, a desperate refusal to examine the actual state of Jewish opinion regarding Jesus. Here, in context, are comments about Jesus by three major Jewish thinkers: How are you going to explain all this away, I wonder? There is no doubt that Jewish opinion is not monolithic. Some hate Christ, some may even believe him mythical. But clearly the considered opinion of Jewish thinkers is positive with regard to Christ, whether you like it or not. |

Notice the change in color of the font I am using? It means the following words are from a moderation perspective. The point of this board is civil discourse. Inflaming the tone with words like "embarrased silence" and "desperate refusal" is borderline at best, and if it continues will be considered a form of harrassment. Alethias, GRD Moderator |

Civil discourse, eh? With wild accusations of quotation mining and the dismissal of evidence on the basis of the website on which it is found? I think not. |

I've split what I consider a de-rail, and I'm locking it for other moderators to review and decide what they want to do with it.
