How do you know Clement of Alexandria existed and that "he" was an expert on anything, unless you concede it's not unlike the writers of The Hardy Boys all known as Franklin W. Dixon having been experts on that series. Or unless you are deferrential to the Church.

That's absurd. Clement had the advantage of being at the epicenter of Markan culture a hundred or so years from the composition of the original gospel. I can't believe that you'd suggest that you make a better mythicist argument than Clement. I'm sorry to have to got in the way of you staring in the pool, Narcissus, but the authority of Clement is unrivaled.

Be quiet?? Hmm. You shouldn't give the impression that you work for the Politburo. However, reading the material doesn't change anything. Now you can go on but without insults.

How can you have an opinion on something you havent read? All you do is ask open ended questions and possibilities without doing any research

You are misjudging me by far, but that's OK.

Why all the sudden ranting, Steven? If you're not comfortable around mythicists, go to another board.
There is something that appears very wrong with Bart's Ehrman statement about his supposed ingorance that people questioned the existence of a real Jesus.

Bart claims he is Scholar.

Bart Ehrman also claimed that he is AWARE of the QUEST for an Historical Jesus.Did Jesus Exist? pages 11-12

Bart Ehrman is AWARE of the "greatest work devoted to the study of the historical Jesus" by ALBERT SCHWEITZER 1875-1965.

Bart Ehrman as a Scholar MUST know that Jesus of the NT was regarded as a DIVINE Jesus before the Quest.

Albert Schweitzer wrote over 100 YEARS ago that the image of Jesus has fallen to pieces and destroyed from within by CONCRETE historical problems one after the other.

Bart Ehrman as an historian is NOT likely to have first encountered claims that Jesus did NOT exist as human by e-mails.

Bart Ehrman MUST have been aware of the Quest for an historical Jesus before he got e-mails.

I find extremely difficult to believe that Bart Ehrman could PERSONALLY question the Existence of God and NOT even question the actual existence of Jesus while admitting the very Jesus stories are problematic historically.

Mountainman

im sure you have a lot of gifts. Youre theory about a fourth century foundation of the church isnt your best moment. Your insistence that it somehow works despite the evidence to the contrary is what's really problematic
