I can't stand bad grammar. I almost rip out my eye sockets even chatting on MSN. It's "See you." Not "cu" DAMN IT!

I don't think text-messagespeak even counts as bad grammar. It's a whole other icky, wrong thing.

I hate "u", "cu", "ne1" and any other obscenely retarded shorthand. Regular old bad grammar I can stand. Kinda.

Well -- we ARE talking about English you know.
Just a bastard language that never could figure out if it was French or German.---so did a lot of both. And then went on to borrow from everybody and his brother. So---anything goes. ---------Rules? What rules? And after all ---English has actually turned into a sort of universal language today. Who would a thunk it? Bastards win in the end I guess. Everybody loves a mutt. |

as long as you're not one of those jerks who feels the need to constantly correct people, then it's all good.
because that's as annoying as the person with the aol retardation. |

e.g. Were you upset by my use of "don't" and "it's" rather than "do not" and "it is"? And, for that matter, by my use of "e.g." rather than "exempli gratia"? "cu" etc (or should I write "et cetera"?) are not really any different. They just don't have history on their side. Yet. Eric |

For me, the ultimate goal is communication. While grammar is important, I think it is only one aspect. For example, spelling, content, the way it is said, logic, accuracy of source, honesty, are also important. So, I tend to tolerate spelling and grammar unless it is too off-base. (Heck, English is not even my first language ... what else can I ask?)
