This is in line with the dharma teachings of "non-atman" - no self.

Suzuki repudiates the so called individualistic view of karma..........which he states "mars the true interpretation of Buddhism".............that good or evil acts committed by a person effects only their own fate.........
I'm going to assume that you are refering to D.T.Suzuki and not Shyunru Suzuki.

I agree entirely that one's action adds or detracts from the common consciousness and communal sense of well being. However I have to add that in my view karmic action does extend to being an aware voter which brings up another kettle of fish.

If a brigand levies a forcefully taken toll on everyone in the countryside (not your money or your life but your money or your freedom) and uses the proceeds to wage war does my contribution to those proceeds also make me karmically culpable?

If a politician says one thing to get elected (let's say he says he is going to to practice compassionate conservatism) and then once 'elected' acts in an opposite manner and let's just say I voted for someone else who didn't even come close to winning, would I then be karmically justified the second time around in casting not a truly informed vote, not my real 'druthers, but a vote against this politician/brigand (take your pick)?

It's not an easy question and it may have no real answer but to say something like 'Your heart's in the right place' would that be the equivalent of saying 'The road to hell is filled with good intentions.' ?

Does Australia still fine folks for not voting?
