This ESPN.com article talks about the problems in mixing religion and sports.
The article seems to stereotype religious and non-religious athletes. I'm not sure there is a correlation of traits common to one group in regard to performance in sports. The article also has no mention of any religion other than Christianity, nor of any absence of religion, almost assuming that everyone is some sort of a Christian. I'm sure there are locker room problems of a muslim or other non-christian athlete either being forced to participate in the team prayer (this has happened to me many times), or being ostracized for not participating in the prayer, among other clash of religions problems. This quote kinda bothered me: Quote:
I would love to see a star athlete, in response to a question about God or some other higher power helping them to win, start laughing and say, "I don't believe in silly fairy tales." That would really make my day. |

Or else the athlete claiming that God doesn't fix games.
