In response to the OP...

1) I'm not stupid
2) I'm not expendable
3) And I'm not going!

...to fall for an obvious myth.

You didn't ask me, Magdlyn, but my understanding is that El and Elohim, also used in reference to angels, are common terms for God while Yahweh is a proper and personal name for God Almighty, the one true eternal God and Creator of all things. So the use of separate names doesn't indicate a changing God, but is merely a shift from common to proper name.

This must be the dozenth time the bible has contradicted you.

Read the previous verses. Our goals is to strive and be perfect like God. We are to try to do what Jesus commands in the previous verses. No where does this verse say that Jesus expects us to automatically be able to do it all without failing once. Jesus is stating if we want to be fully righteous, those are the things we should be trying to do.

So, no the Bible hasn't contradicted me.

What the heck are you talking about? Atheists put up the lame argument that they can't earn their way to Heaven; instead they have to accept a Savior on their behalf. I'm just pointing out that it is a ridiculous argument to be able to earn Heaven because the only way to earn heaven on your own is to be completely perfect. And I can 100% guarantee that no one on this board, let alone the world is perfect.

I don't really "refuse" Christ, since I think he's a made-up person for all intents and purposes. I do "refuse" to unquestionably follow the culture that believes him to be a person as outlined by the bible and the "son" of "God". I don't see how an "acceptance" of "Christ" would enhance my life or of the people around me.

Nope. All Jesus did was open the door and offer grace. Its up to each individual to walk through the door.

What makes your interpretation correct, and not mine? Oh, thats right. Atheists are always right, even when they are wrong.

signed, M
He didn't change His name. Its God in Chapter 1, and the Lord God in chapter 2. Its still the same name. God is called many things in the Bible. Later He is called Jehovah.

that statement has zero basis in Judaism. everybody has a share in the afterlife, whatever form it turns out to take.

everybody.
