As far as execution is concerned, its hard not to agree, unless you are against the death penalty generally. I mean, if anyone should get the axe, it is Saddam.
But not before a full trial and full disclosure of his regime's actions from the beginning until now. I imagine Bush would love to skip that part given the well understood and highly damaging trash Saddam will likely sling the way of the U.S. and the Bushies in particular (Bush Sr., Rummy, etc.) But it is also not surprising that Bush would say this, because he has always been a supporter of the death penalty. As governor of Texas, he dispatched his responsibility for presiding over the execution process with not a single bit of compunction, regret or a moment's troubled sleep, according to all public information I've been able to read. The way he talked it was one of the more satisfying parts of his job. |

Saddam deserves the death penalty under muslim religious law and threre is no doubt about that,he will get the death penalty.
As for dubya I think he has a sick sexual fetish for seeing people put to death but wont admit it.Look at his record as governor. |

I truly despise the herd-minded rehtoric that takes it to be self evident that the Bush administration has been uniformly misguided and wrong-headed. I hope such morons don't take the reigns from Bush or they will merely compound whatever dangers Bush has rightly and wrongly brought to the surface. |

Of course, his followers throughout history have distorted the intent of his message and executed many in his name. What's interesting is that Saddam is a great example of an Anti-Christ figure so often spoken about by the fundamentalist Christians. Supposing he is said figure, Bush and the religious right seem to be playing right into Satan's plan. Saddam, the Son of Satan, must be executed, just as Jesus Christ was executed. Once executed, Armageddon will be unleashed upon the the inhabitants of this planet. This could explain the Vatican's stance on the treatment of Saddam. Remember that the pope is apparently privy to the specifics concerning the impending apocalypse. In fact, it has been said that he will live to see it commence. This could be why the Pope hung his head in utter despair upon hearing the news that the United States attacked Iraq. He knew it was the precursor to the end. |

"Christianity does not stand at odds with execution, nor the use of warfare."
WTF kind of Christianity are you talking about!? Being Christian is to attempt to act Christ-like. WWJD and so on. Jesus was blatantly against execution (turn the other cheek, cast the first stone) and warfare(turn the other cheek, the meek shall inherit, etc... Christ stood well at odds to such things and to not see these or to ignore these takes the Christ out of Christianity, like the Dollar took Christ out of Christmas. Crazy, crazy, crazy....it amazes me that people don't understand that traditional Christianity (Jesus and Paul) required pascifism. Modern voting, warring, legislating Christians just don't qualify as good Christians by traditional standards. Now by modern standards, its the norm to pick and choose and ignore and do whatever you feel under tha banner of forgiveness and grace. Sorry for the off topicness, but Bush calls himself a Christ-ian, but acts so far from it...like so many others...They just truly don't believe any of it...lip service to righteousness, action for the Devil.... yeah what Blixy said above.... |
