Smile Your favorite non-theist

A few days ago, someone posted a thread where non-theists could vote for their favorite theists. It seems only fair that theists should have the chance to voice their opinion of the non-theists on this board.

So, who is your favorite non-theist? This could be for any reason--perhaps the person you feel is most respectful toward your beliefs, the best debater, the person with the wittiest posts, ect. Or maybe I'm your favorite atheist, since this is only my 26th post and I probably haven't pissed you off yet.

Mods, feel free to dump this in elsewhere or wherever else you feel is appropriate.

Jessica

Heathen Dawn. He can penetrate to the bottom of the issues surrounding religion. He's a convinced skeptic while still being open-minded. His posts have evolved through several stages, all of which were interesting. He finds my ideas interesting.

He brings me closer to the point where it's worth it for me to stay here. I actually would prefer not to come here all the time, but do so out of unbreakable habit, i.e., addiction. So until I can break the habit of coming here, it's nice to have Heathen Dawn's kind of poster around here.

Queen of Swords!

If she got a divorce, I would propose on the same day! I would throw myself into mudpuddles and let her step on my back rather than sully her divine feet with common earth!

Thanks, Sarpedon.

I must point out, though, that no one has yet made an honest woman of me.

Carl Sagan! I really liked his book, "The Demon Haunted World".

It’s a good thing this is the Internet, a textual medium. So you can’t see how I’m blushing.

I was wondering who my favorite was.

I like brighid's calm intelligent defences of rationality and feminism, and the E/C folks are luminaries in their fields. Then there's Jobar and wade, who are always friendly and polite without being pushovers. And I love the way Biff can well, biff any faulty argument.

I don't think Tricia is a theist any more, so I'll add her to the list as well, since she's come a long way. And of course, livius drusus for being both sharp-witted and clear-headed, and Eudaimonist, just because I didn't know what eudaimonia was before I saw his screen name. lpetrich's posts are incisive and informative, winstonjen does things to Magus that I enjoy watching, and the funniest post I ever read was one by Koy, back in the days when he wouldn't have gotten it edited multiple times.

But of all the nontheists here, the one to whom I feel the most grateful is Don Morgan. When I was starting to deconvert, and feeling both confused and lonely as a result, I found the SecWeb and read his list of biblical contradictions. That changed my life.

You go, Don!

Edited to add : A special mention to Defiant Heretic and Bialar Crais for being kind enough to archive the nutwatches.

...and to GunnerJ for invaluable novel assistance.

Oh, I’ve only now come up with the idea of who my favorite non-theist poster is: Oolon Colluphid. I simply bow my head in reverence to his thorough knowledge of evolution, and his ability to rebut just any creationist argument. When creationists start to sound smart, he can always be relied upon to dispel that illusion. And no one of them has yet answered his “stupid design” arguments.

You rock, Oolon.
