Default Religious belief is unhealthy

I note the recent health statistics from the United Health Foundation the last 6 states on the list are probably the most religious:

Coincidence?

I think not.

"Probably the most religious"

There is nothing correlating the health findings to religion in that study.

Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi and Louisiana probably also have a higher rate of fried food consumption.

That's right, it makes at least as much sense to blame these health trends on people's eating habits as it does on religion. Or it could also be that a less healthy, poorer population is the cause, and not the effect, of the greater importance of religion in these states--the idea that people will tend to pray more, and be more religious in general, if they are worried about their own or their parents' health problems.

Here's an article I found ages ago that relates obsessive-compulsive disorder to piety: http://www.newscientist.com/article/...-to-piety.html

you know, it is more likely this....
In poorer more malnourished areas, there are fewer schooling opportunities, and children cannot reach (because of dietary and tutorage issues) their full potential.....
They have little opportunity to improve on their situation.

So, you have a bunch of people without much intellectual knowhow, who don't really understand a lot of stuff.... and a pretty hopeless existence.

So, why break from the long tradition, well established, of answering all of those pesky questions with god?
Short on someone to blame?
God is there.
Want a quick fix?
Ask god..

get the idea?

Shouldn't Kentucky be on that list?

I think I remember hearing a sermon from the cashier the last time I ordered a big bucket of extra-crispy deep fried chicken
