This question "What would you do if you were God" shows that most people would do a better job at being God, specially if you have to be a benevolent God that is almighty and all knowing.

Most people would not allow Lucifer to be in the Garden of Eden. The universe is vast, so I would throw lucifer in an empty planet in a distant galaxy so that humans can live peacefully, happily and without pain or death.

Simple really, so this definetely proves there is no God. No Christian can argue that there is a God when discussing this particular topic.

Sapho,

Ok, so they might argue, but there is no way for a christian to win this argument. In fact, some christians want to use science to prove God's existence, but I can use only the bible to prove God does not exist.

Wanna bet?

Bruce Almighty was a fun movie, but only if you ignore its philosophical problems. Its apologetic for God's behavior relies on free will existing and being a meaningful, coherent concept, which is not the case in reality.

Anyway, as others have stated, if I were to become God, I would immediately abolish the current physical world and send all existing sentient beings to heaven. Problem solved.

They are only interseted in convincing you, and will not acctually listen to your argument. If you actually make them think (very hard to do), they will just believe that you are doing the devils work, "as even the devil can quote scipture".

but good luck!

This is the truth that people avoid when discussing this topic. It's the way human beings were designed/evolved.

This is the Jewish view. It's called Tikun Olam, repair of the universe. Jews love stories so I'll tell a story:
Quote:
Before there was anything there was God, a few angels, and a huge glob of rocks and water with no place to go. The angels asked God, "Why don’t you clean up this mess?"

So God arranged the rocks into planets and stars and just plain rocks. And God arranged the water into oceans and clouds and just plain water. And the angels said, "Well, God, it’s neater now, but is it finished?" And God said, "Nope!"

So God filled the world with growing things and creeping things and things only God knows what they are, and when the angels saw it they said, "Is the world finished now?" And God said, "Nope!"

God made a man and woman from some of the water and dust and said to them, "I’m tired now. Please finish up the world for me . . . it’s almost done." But the man and woman said, "We can’t finish the world. You have the plans and we are too little."

"You are big enough," said God. "But I’ll give you this. If you keep trying to finish the world, I will be your partner."

They said, "What’s a partner?" and God said, "A partner is someone you work with on a big thing that neither of you can do alone. If you have a partner it means you can never give up, because your partner is depending on you. On the days you think I am not doing enough and on the days I think you’re not doing enough, even on those days we are still partners and we must not stop trying to finish the world. That’s the deal." And they agreed.

Then the angels asked God, "Is the world finished yet?" And God said, "I don’t know. Go ask my partners."

It's up to us.....

I'd tell them all that what you see is what you get and that's all there is. I would also tell them to learn science, ease suffering and enjoy life.

Then I'd off myself publicly so there is no question that I'm dead.

Some of what the Bible says about suffering:

Numbers 14:33-35 (New International Version)
33 Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the desert. 34 For forty years—one year for each of the forty days you explored the land—you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.' 35 I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will surely do these things to this whole wicked community, which has banded together against me. They will meet their end in this desert; here they will die."

Deuteronomy 28:52-54 (New International Version)
52 They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the LORD your God is giving you.

53 Because of the suffering that your enemy will inflict on you during the siege, you will eat the fruit of the womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters the LORD your God has given you. 54 Even the most gentle and sensitive man among you will have no compassion on his own brother or the wife he loves or his surviving children,

2 Kings 14:25-27 (New International Version)
25 He was the one who restored the boundaries of Israel from Lebo Hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, in accordance with the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath Hepher.

26 The LORD had seen how bitterly everyone in Israel, whether slave or free, was suffering; there was no one to help them. 27 And since the LORD had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.
(Here the Lord observed suffering for a while, then sent a servant to put an end to it.)

Psalm 88:
1 O LORD, the God who saves me,
day and night I cry out before you.
2 May my prayer come before you;
turn your ear to my cry.
3 For my soul is full of trouble
and my life draws near the grave. [c]
4 I am counted among those who go down to the pit;
I am like a man without strength.
5 I am set apart with the dead,
like the slain who lie in the grave,
whom you remember no more,
who are cut off from your care.
6 You have put me in the lowest pit,
in the darkest depths.
7 Your wrath lies heavily upon me;
you have overwhelmed me with all your waves.
8 You have taken from me my closest friends
and have made me repulsive to them.
I am confined and cannot escape;
9 my eyes are dim with grief.
I call to you, O LORD, every day;
I spread out my hands to you.
10 Do you show your wonders to the dead?
Do those who are dead rise up and praise you?
11 Is your love declared in the grave,
your faithfulness in Destruction?
12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness,
or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?
13 But I cry to you for help, O LORD;
in the morning my prayer comes before you.
14 Why, O LORD, do you reject me
and hide your face from me?
15 From my youth I have been afflicted and close to death;
I have suffered your terrors and am in despair.
16 Your wrath has swept over me;
your terrors have destroyed me.
17 All day long they surround me like a flood;
they have completely engulfed me.
18 You have taken my companions and loved ones from me;
the darkness is my closest friend.

Proverbs 22:2-4 (New International Version)
2 Rich and poor have this in common:
The LORD is the Maker of them all.

3 A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge,
but the simple keep going and suffer for it.

4 Humility and the fear of the LORD
bring wealth and honor and life.
(Maybe people suffer because they aren't humble enough and don't fear God?)

Isaiah 38:16-18 (New International Version)
17 Surely it was for my benefit
that I suffered such anguish.
In your love you kept me
from the pit of destruction;
you have put all my sins
behind your back.
(Ah, you suffer for your own benefit...)

Lamentations 1:11-13 (New International Version)
11 All her people groan
as they search for bread;
they barter their treasures for food
to keep themselves alive.
"Look, O LORD, and consider,
for I am despised."

12 "Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by?
Look around and see.
Is any suffering like my suffering
that was inflicted on me,
that the LORD brought on me
in the day of his fierce anger?

13 "From on high he sent fire,
sent it down into my bones.
He spread a net for my feet
and turned me back.
He made me desolate,
faint all the day long.
(God sent the suffering...)

Ezekiel 36:5-7 (New International Version)
5 this is what the Sovereign LORD says: In my burning zeal I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, for with glee and with malice in their hearts they made my land their own possession so that they might plunder its pastureland.' 6 Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I speak in my jealous wrath because you have suffered the scorn of the nations. 7 Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I swear with uplifted hand that the nations around you will also suffer scorn.
