What is so highly questionable but hardly interesting, is why some highly educated, otherwise seemingly inteligent people spend considerable time and energy debating obscure folk tales from some 2000 years ago with sperious roots back to the beginnings of time as it applies to our speicies.?
John Winford, I'm an 8-1/2 grade graduate meself, and my spelling skills self evident. Here's a belated Welcome aboard. |

Earl is Canadian which already presupposes that he was the product of a better education system. I know this firsthand because of the way my wife and I watch our child go through the various grade levels here. It's shameful how laissez-faire the attitude is with respect to education (and as a Canadian I you know I can actually pronounce French words correctly; it drives me to distraction the way people say 'foyer' like it rhymes with 'destroyer' or waiters who say 'au gratin' like it rhymes with 'spat in'). With that said, wouldn't move back ever.

Carefull guys. Constantly looking down your noses at commoners results in eyestrain and eventual cross-eyes. No matter how it's pronounced. :notworthy: |

I love America. I love Americans. Yet there is no doubt that the average Canadian is smarter than the average American. Socialism at work. Better paid teachers. More affordable post-secondary education (I never took out a student loan nor borrowed money from my parents to put myself through school - four years working at a slaughter house for the summers and one year at the Molson Brewery on Front Street now gone). Also more exposure to people of different cultures (too much some might argue).

Getting back to the OP. It is fascinating to see how close spin and S C Carlson become by the end of 2005. The only person spin ever shows any respect to on the forum by the fall of 2005. Another coincidence I guess. It's also interesting how in 2005 spin is open to Doherty's understanding about an ahistorical Jesus at least theoretically. If spin was Ehrman - if that case could be determined - it would speak volumes about the manner in which the subjects Ehrman writes about are determined more by what would make compelling reading rather than what the author actually believed.
