Maybe the thing to do is for Beyelzu to start a thread on the topic which is off-topic here, and for Gurder to respond to his questions there. Fair enough?

Or should I be adding "contentious for no good reason" to my list of atheist stereotypes?

The question of stereotypes is on topic. The matter of ridicule as effective debate tactic is only germane insofar as it relates to stereotyping your opponent based on his or her beliefs.

Unless there's a reasonably toned discussion to be had here on the "lazy atheist", and I frankly doubt it at this point, I submit that this thread has outlived its usefulness and should be allowed to die an honorable death.
