The reason he refers to the Holy Spirit as "another paracletos", is quite obviously because Jesus himself is currently their paracletos, but he says that he is going away, but he will send them another paracletos to be in his place - the Holy Spirit. This is so obvious from the text that I cannot believe that you can't see it.

Here is John 16:7-13:

Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because they do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer; about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

Just read the text, River. It CANNOT be Muhammad he is speaking about, because when he says the Spirit will guide "you" into all truth, the "you" REFERS TO HIS DISCIPLES TO WHOM HE IS SPEAKING. Now all these disciples were dead hundreds of years before Muhammad. Obviously, therefore, it is not Muhammad who is in view.

I've read the text and I am familiar with the different arguments that are derived from it.

I can't believe that you are forcing me to subscribe to your world view....

The Bible is flexible enough to accomodate different theories... I believe Jesus was a Prophet ...and when he said that he will send another (paraclete)...he meant another Prophet.....

Obviously , it can also refer to Muhammad. Muhammad (pbuh) is a disciple of Jesus and .........Jesus (pbuh) is a disciple of Muhammad . Muhammad taught the same message as Jesus Christ (pbuh)...........and when Jesus Christ returns he will teach the same message as Muhammad. They are brothers. No need for prejudice......no need for separation.... so, wheres the love?

How am I "forcing" you, River? Have I held a gun to your head? You argued certain things, trying to persuade people to your opinion. I've argued contrary things, to persaude people of my opinion. Neither of us have forced anything. These kind of comments are unbecoming.

Yes, it is, but that doesn't mean ANY theory is true. If I say when Jesus spoke of the paracletos, he was actually referring to Rupert Murdoch and his media empire, is that a credible interpretation? Some interpretations are just plain wrong. The idea that Muhammad is a paracletos is one of them. Jesus is obviously speaking to the people listening to him at the time, not to people hundreds of years later.

The word for prophet in Greek is prophetes. Jesus could easily have said that if that was what he meant.

I'm sorry if I'm harsh or if I'm impatient. But you have to understand that the things you are saying are just preposterous. They are like claiming that the earth is flat and the sun moves around the earth. They just have no credibility. That's what is frustrating. It doesn't mean that I don't respect your right to your opinion or your religious beliefs.

Its okay...

However, It doesn't necessarily sound preposterous to huge sector of the world population... I have been reading the Bible for a dozen years....and even today...that verse sounds to me....as if it is speaking of the Prophet (pbuh)....I don't know how I can explain this to you...

Default the dilemna of Babylon

The christians and muslims believe that their image of god is superior
to anyone elses. They are both delusional. Truth comes with great
faith, and believing that you can wipe out the lies. Both religions
are smack full of lies, this because men were always going to be
superior to women. Mohammed was a slave to a woman, Jesus
came to raise the womb of women, from it's unnatural state caused
by demonic men. They both believed in truth and peace, look
what their followers perpetuate, hate and war. Let them have it.
