Good Grief! Magus55 moans and groans about someone supposedly wanting him dead. But Magus55 professes to believe that he'll be sent to Heaven. Sheesh.

Stop it please, Loren. This thread is not about Magus' personal theological and moral codes.

I think the goal of Christianity is protect you from other people's pain. It's not terribly effective at protecting you from pain: thiests are turned into atheists and vice versa by things like combat and trauma at approximately the same rate. What Xianity does is make it easy for you to ignore other people's pain (for example, our Xian holocaust apologists on this board).

So ya, anybody that looks at a man dying slowly on cross and feels happy thoughts probably deserves the label you gave them.

Funny thing is, like many "clever" commercials today---you remember the commercial but do not remember exactly what they were selling -----------(like me mixing up whether it was a Camry or an Accord).

You wonder whether today's commercials are really any better as far as really selling anything than those of old ----

--(Brusha brusha brusha--new Ipana toothpaste)--------

-------disgustingly annoyingly basic and simple commercial -- tended to drive you up the wall after a while.---------but at least you remembered from the jingle what the hell they were selling.

And that may also be true about that church sign. Do you remember what the "product" was they were selling well enough to "buy it"?

Just one problem: Why do you assume that EVERY SINGLE parent in those days would "throw" their kids in the dumpter? It's always said by you people that the last days would be like the days of Noah, and I can bloody well assure you that NOT "every" parent today would "throw their kids in the dumpster"!

Hell, even Jack Chick in his tracts about the "flood" has pictures of people holding their babies above the water.

Even the bible says that the wicked are generally good to their relations.

I think you're just overgeneralizing so that you can justify the actions of a frigging mass-murderer here, so you don't feel any "cognitive dissonance" over the fact that your so-called "moral" god killed kids.

Oh, and about the "they had 120 years to repent" thing? So what? We're talking about the kids here, not the adults who actually, you know, HAD THE CHOICE!

This is such an accurate assessment, I think it needs repeating.

:notworthy

Oh yeah, I need to stay on topic while LD is here. I don't see hyperbole in advertising and religious lies in the same light. And I think advertisers would generally have the good taste to avoid making fun of a disaster like the Titanic. Some religious people, on the other hand, seem to get a kick out of "pointing and laughing" at other people's suffering if they can make a pitch for their own beliefs at the same time.

Well, there is the gentle Thomas Aquinas who once opined that one of the joys of heaven was seeing the damned suffer in hell. Somehow, the shock of seeing children laugh and mock other children for suffering pain doesn't seem all that, well, shocking...

Default A BAD church banner

I was driving down one of the streets in my city, and came across a popular church in this community. Outside, along the lawn, was a banner:

Quote:
Q: What is your purpose in life?

A: You were planned for God's pleasure.
That does not sound right.

This is the OP of the merged thread. - liv

So I guess we're all god's prostitutes? Maybe god should be called John. What is this church? Sounds like the Children of God cult with their "Whores of Jesus".

What pleasures god? Death, genecide, rape, etc. What a sick bastard.
