I am not surprised that the thread was moved. There is very little biblical criticism in this thread. You and I have drifted into discussing some version of the design argument, and you and the other posters have been discussing the historicity of Jesus (which I guess may pass as biblical criticism if done with a biblical basis).

The verbatim seven-word agreement in the Greek of Matthew 1.21 = Luke 1.30 stands to be explained.

The truth will set us all free.
Quote:
And it is Luke 1:31 FYI but still close enough. The verbatim seven-word agreement in the Greek of the text is below; Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. KJV Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. KJV Obviously a false text added to at least one of the accounts, but it also could have been from the "Q source", and some people that do not accept that "Q source" have argued the writer of Luke copied from Matthew since Luke is believed to have been written last. In the beginning of the Gospel of Luke that author says he was NOT an eye witness to the accounts and he is writing from info delivered to him, see Luke 1:1-4. I would give a couple of links but this system will not let me, and this thread was moved to this dead zone since the Board does not want this discussed. |

Links can be added to the post by using the "Insert Link" button available when you reply to a post (using the quote button). If that, for whatever reason, doesn't work you can always just post the link in cleartext as you do when writing any text.
