Is there any documentation of the crucifixion outside of the bible? Either through ancient government records, eyewitness accounts, etc.?

It seems if one ruler believed he had just executed a competing ruler, he would have documented it, no?

Thanks.
The whole Josephus thing has been covered
There is ONE reference to "Christ" in Tacitus which is subject to a discussion here
http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=109462

And while Pliny the Younger mentions Christians 9 times in his letters he never specifically mentions Jesus Christ,(he does mention "Christus" three times but never as Jesus)
