Hitler came from a Christian background, and was supported by many Christians. His eventual aim was to "reform" Christianity to include his racial theories. Nevertheless, Christians continually deny the influence or support of German Christians and claim that Hitler was an atheist, which is clearly not true.

http://camlaw.rutgers.edu/publicatio...n/churches.pdf ' The track record of both intelligence agencies and the Christian Churches in the war crimes field has attracted controversy. For example, serious allegations have been made regarding help given to suspected Nazi war criminals in the immediate post-war years by both the US Counter Intelligence Corps in the Klaus Barbie case, and Vatican officials as well as other senior Church officials who co-operated with Nazism and the fascist Ustasha movement in Croatia.' There is no doubt that Hitler wanted the German Christian Churches to be subservient to him, and to have no independent political power.. But Hitler personally was a creationist. 'Das, was der Mensch von dem Tier voraushat, der veilleicht wunderbarste Beweis fuer die Ueberlegenheit des Menschen ist, dass er begriffen hat, das es eine Schoepferkraft geben muss!'
