Actually, she did try that, but it made her nauseous. The main problem is that the radiation "cooked" her stomach, so to speak, causing parts of it to be adhered together. Adhesions, I think. She has to take meds before she eats, and I think it helps, but it's quite an ordeal.

My God-Mother has been battling cancer for my whole life. It started as cervical cancer, which she's had a few times, with enough time between to be considered "clean" which makes it suck even more for her when she goes in 10 years later to find it again. Unfortunately, it's weakened her so much that now she can't fight it and hers has spread too. But she's had all the treatments recently enough that they can't do radiation or chemo for her anymore. It's horrible what happens.

*snuggles*

i've always thought it was pretty much the norm here in the US. my hubby and both my sons are circumsized. i've always been told the whole cleanliness thing too.
i cna honeslty say that i'd never seen un uncircumsized man till i started working at the hospital. now i see them all the time. ALL the time. and i can attest to the cleanliness thing. i cannot tell you how many of the younger girls there that i've had to orientate look at me wierd for pulling the foreskin bakc to clean.
they're all like "eeeeeeeeeewwwww do we really have to do that?"
i'm like "did you not see the crud i just wiped off? hellllllo?"

anyway, whatever floats your boat i spose. i had my sons done and don't feel bad about it. i mean, babies are very resilient when it comes to pain and while it may seema horrid thing we're doing to them, i did it with the best intentions in mind and cna any say they recall ever having this done to them? no, it's not something tey even remember.

Of course, they wouldn't remember it if you just had their appendix nipped out at the same time also right? It's a useless thing and removing it at birth would prevent possible inflammation and death later on in life so it would likely be a more useful procedure than circumcision.

But nobody does that. Why do we feel ok about snipping off an important part of a mans penis but shy away from removing an organ that threatens their life and serves no purpose at all?

Good point, add tonsils to that too, why not whip them out too. That would save our NHS millions of pounds in operations, and antibiotics and days off sick!

I never even knew until I was told on here that it used to be the norm in the US to circumcise. I used to work in nursing home, and I can honestly say, in all my life I have only ever seen 1 circumcised penis.

Isn't an appendectomy a rather more serious operation?

So, for those Christians who believe that circumcision is a good thing, does that mean that God created man with a flaw? Why would God create us with something that was going to be damaging and that we would need to cut-off right after birth?

I...don't even know what to say. I thought it was just a hook to get people to look at the thread.
