You think that is worthy of a reply.

The answer to this is a book in itself.

Some bullet points, though, include internal markers (such as anachronisms) which can date the writing and context of the book, linguistic analysis and archaeological data.

The priestly material presupposes the exile and end of the monarchy and focuses on practices that can be carried out in exile, and on concerns that would have been most relevant during or after exile. Its language is closest to Ezekiel and Deutero-Isaiah (two exilic-period writers), but seems to be later than Ezekiel since Ezekiel only appears to be acquainted with the Holiness Code and not the rest of the Priestly material or Pentateuch in general. And as Diogenes says, there is much more in the way of anachronisms (e.g. Abraham encountering Philistines, the use of camels, anachronistic geographical familiarity), linguistics, and archaeology to go on as well.

Honestly, pick up any university-level introduction to the Old Testament. The "Bible and Interpretation" website has some introductory articles as well (I'm apparently not allowed to post links yet). This is mainstream biblical scholarship that everyone except JWs, Mormons, and possibly some conservative evangelicals accepts.

Is it news to you, Sotto, that the Temple in Jerusalem was attended by priests?
