I like to share ideas with other Atheist and I try to be kind to religious people, but I do not understand why they feel compelled to share the Lord Jesus with me. I don't want to meet Jesus. Why is it so bad to be honest and just say no to religion.
I do not believe in Jesus and I want to understand why this happens. I don't want them to be like me or even to like me. I do not want to be like them. I have tried to avoid debate but it is hard to hear the same tired lies over and over and over and over and over. I think there is nothing more dangerous than religion and I mean all of them!!!! I do not love Jesus, I do not want to be saved and I don't want to go to heaven. I can't think of life eternal with a bunch of Christians singing all day forever more. I get sick thinking about it. I don't care what or who people worship but why do people need to share their personal gods with me??? I know some fundy will show their true colors and attach me with love for being honest but I hope someone has an answer. I thought I would try once again to ask a serious question and I want to know if I am the only atheist tired of god and his troops. We have heard talk enough. We have listened to all the drowsy, idealess, vapid sermons that we wish to hear. We have read your Bible and the works of your best minds. We have heard your prayers, your solemn groans and your reverential amens. All these amount to less than nothing. We want one fact. We beg at the doors of your churches for just one little fact. We pass our hats along your pews and under your pulpits and implore you for just one fact. We know all about your mouldy wonders and your stale miracles. We want a this year's fact. We ask only one. Give us one fact for charity. Your miracles are too ancient. The witnesses have been dead for nearly two thousand years. ~ Robert Green Ingersoll (1833-1899) |

I feel similar to Magus but adhere more to the not throwing my pearls to swine concept with my evangelism. If someone wants to discuss Jesus I am more than willing to spend whatever time it takes. Most people are surprized however that I am evangelical because I do not believe it offending the beliefs of others without an invitation and I do not believe in force feeding those who are not hungry.

Let me state that I am equally tired of fundamentalists of all stripes, regardless of whether they are religious, political or scientific in nature.
Know also that there are people that will condemn everything that is not like them. I tire of Christians angrily telling me that I'm going to hell just as I do atheists that state that because I believe in God I am delusional and in need mental evaluation. I can be denounced by an atheist for saying a prayer and denounced by a Christian for saying the wrong prayer. In the end, I have realized that none of it matters. We will always see people that are intent on infringing their beliefs on others. It is what you personally take from it that does matter. For me, I have taken the higher road of meeting insolence with kindness and proving that though I do not think as they do, I certainly am also a fellow human being and worthy of respect. I don't meet condemnation with condemnation. It accomplishes nothing in my eyes. Until people realize that one way is not always the right way for everyone, we will always run these tired circles around each other. Lastly, let's keep this discussion on that higher road and be civil in this thread. Tangie |

Thanks for your kind Christian words since you have all the answers I will not need to post on this thread. Thanks for your all knowing Godly love. You are full of the Hollier than THOU False SPIRIT. I think all Gods all false and there is no need for me to discuss any false religion with anyone. I did not know this was your personal fundy site so I will go were you are not postint. This is a horrible waste of time to debate with a fastasy. I have pink elephants in my office but I don't discuss them here. The church says the earth is flat; but I have seen its shadow on the moon, and I have more confidence even in a shadow than in the church. ~ Magellan |

People have a hard time arguing with me regarding religion because I simply make no stance to be against anything. I have an open mind and acknowledge that I have no proof of anything other than my own subjective experiences. I have no problem with what beliefs someone else has as long as they "live and let live" with their chosen inner truths and let it harm none. Tangie |

I appreciate your post as I see no point in verbal battles with with fundies. I can't cure mental illness and I think religions is a severe example of how low human being can reach for the race for the bottom. I will continue to look for non fundy threads as I have never won an arguement with a FOOL. No one who lives in a fantasy can even see reality much less grasp it. Please continue to stand up for what you believe but as a retired minister I know that they know not what they do. As I said above. I know some fundy will show their true colors and attach me with love for being honest but I hope someone has an answer. I thought I would try once again to ask a serious question and I want to know if I am the only atheist tired of god and his troops. I said I would give this thread to it's owner so I will not post on this thread as I am not in to fundie debates; they have all and none of the answers. Jesus made a special point of discouraging the laying of emphasis on outer observances, and, indeed upon hard-and-fast rules and regulations of every kind. What he insisted upon was a certain spirit in one's conduct, knowing that when the spirit is right, the details will take care of themselves. Yet, in spite of this, the history of orthodox Christianity is largely made up of attempts to enforce all sorts of external observances on people. ~ Emmet Fox, American evangelist. Miata |
