SOMMS,
Yes it is a personal thing. I tend to agree to a good degree with atheist that atheism cannot be enforced on others. I've based my decision to have no faith on the groudns of reason and a scarcity of evidence. I can't "prove" my position (that would be proving a negative) except by saying that you can't prove yours but that doesn't tend to convience people who've made a decision based on emotional grounds. |

I really wouldn't want to deny someone of something that brings them hope and comfort. It's damned tempting to try sometimes, though.

Yes. #2-Why or why not? Because I feel anyone can believe what they want. And even if I didn't feel it was OK, what the hell could I or anyone else do about what people believe or don't believe? |

I have no problem whatsoever with faith-based beliefs unless the person involved also claims that its rational/logical for me to think the same way.
The problem with fideism is that, lacking logic, there is no meaningful way to communicate an idea to someone else that doesn't already accept your idea as the truth. |

#1 - Yes.
#2 - I think it's a fundamental human right to think and believe whatever you want (thought police = bad). However, it doesn't stop me from thinking that they're a moron for believing such tripe. |
