Okay, you're back.
[QUOTE]Originally posted by 4God As for my Feb. 1993 assertion-i forgot one detail, that gave God a cop-out....i sincerely forgot it and it was in no part intentional in prayer I said "in my hearing, let no babies die tonight." hence the first thing in the morning I see is this undoubtedly had a profound effect upon me. Surely, we are not all knowing beings and anything we say that fortells the future we are apt to look at it and examine it. I don't know about God having a cop-out, but the above clearly gives you one. So how are we to know your other claims are covered by a little omission on your part? definitely not trying to con. I really wonder why you all think that...But in any case, no cons here. There's no point. To me it's simple: either God is true or He is false. From the evidence I have, He is true. Only time will tell who is truly correct. Xsquid....you better be an eagles fan, otherwise i can't speak with you anymore. I won't speak for others on this board, but I have seen many a person come here with 'conclusive proof' that "there is a God, and you better get on yer knees and beg forgiveness, sucka!" Some use exactly that attitude; some are subdued and scholarly. But they all take that tack, and their argments are all smashed on the reefs of reason. I call it a con because all they're selling is dreams, and not very good dreams at that. Who but a psychotic misanthrope could lick his lips with joy reading Revelation? "My IQ is over 60, so don't talk to me about sports." But insofar as I follow sports at all, yes I am an Eagles fan. What that leads me to believe is that God has no intentions to make it "easy" - that's a bad word...He has no intentions of making it "robotic" to get to know Him. In other words, He wants the choice. You mean he wants us to choose? So why does he get so upset--enough to send us to someplace called hell--if he doesn't like our choice? I was reading about one person's deconversion and what struck me most is the lack of personal relationship with God. i'd have to say that if God were not answering my prayers on a regular basis, it would lend much credence to the fact He doesn't exist. In Kenya, there is a woman named Ayoola. She's about 5'7". Her skin is chocolate brown. Unlike me, she has a more active sense of humor--she laughs more often than I. She has a 4" scar on her left leg from a childhood accident. She lives 60 miles from Nairobi, and actually visits there once a month. She has two brothers and a sister (she claims I resemble her younger brother). I have had a wonderful relationship with her for the past 17 years... ...but I can't prove she exists. And you can't either. I made her up. So how do you have a "personal relationship" with a chimera? And why does god answer your prayers and not those of some battered wife or lost child or sickly elder? Or even that of some kid who gets a pop quiz at school? That no one can answer this does lend much credence to the fact that he doesn't exist. |
