Default The "End Times" Don't Exist.

Wouldn't there be an angel by now?

I think he's referring to the Angels With Trumpets mentioned in Revelation - where one gets blown before each stage in the events.

However, I would assume that those angels are blowing their trumpets in Heaven rather than here on Earth - so we would not hear them anyway...

Ah ok thanks. Yeah, if you go to Rapture Ready, they are certainly positive this whole Mid East crisis is part of the End times. Expect the rise of the antichrist and armageddon very soon.

Hal Lindsey said the same thing decades ago, but he was obviously wrong. If Jesus has not returned in 100 years, people like you will simply explain it away. Which particular Scriptures are you referring to?

Of course, even if I believed that Jesus will return sooner or later, I wouldn't accept him because of God's detestable nature.

Exactly. When I was a fundie back in the 80's, we were absolutely convinced of the soon return of Christ. In fact, a book surfaced in late '87 that gave a rather convincing argument (if you were a believer) that it would be in October '88. Something to do with the timing of the Jewish feasts. We gathered at one guy's house in anticipation -- obviously nothing happened, and we were heartbroken.

The bible mentions people expecting him 'soon', and early christian writings were rife with expectation.

It ain't happenin' folks. Jesus is a myth.

JWs used to give dates for the end times fairly constantly. 1914, then 1918, and their last one was for 1975. My current understanding is that the end times started in 1914, and there is not long to go, because current events (which have been pretty much happening since Uugghh the caveman invented the wheel - but I'll let that one go) are all signs - like finding Psalms 83 in a peat moss bog - of the end times.

Rapture ready is a riot of laughs.

I read about that disapointment. Apprently people where measuring each others backs to see if they had sprouted wings. I use a pic on msn that is of a poster saying "Are you ready for the Rapture on Oct 28, 1992"

Its quite ashame that fundies don't predict specific dates anymore, they are so wishy washy that we can't go "haha, the world didn't end"

Although we can still laugh at rapture ready for saying the end times are coming this year every year...

Would you change your mind if Israel uses nukes on Damascus and Olmert and Abbas sign a 7 year peace agreement?

I don't find cheering over people getting killed in Earthquakes, or blaming children for getting blown up by Israel is funny. It's sad, hateful, and entirely unChristian.
